If Fontaine plays we are likely to lose I have watched 5 games this season with saturdays game against the Foxes the latest and yet again the worst player we had on the pitch was our captain and Carey was played out of position to accomodate him. I don't hate Fontaine I so wanted him to prove me wrong and lead the team well but he has generally been useless and I can not see why he keeps being picked. IMHO Fontaine is the worst captain I can recall playing for City in the 50+ years I have been a cider'ed. We had Amougou training with us at the start of the season why didn't we sign him if it is Rt sided cb that is the only position That DM thinks needs strengthening again IMHO it is both cb positions that are weak especially Left sided CB on saturday almost every Foxes played easily brushed him off the ball. thats not to say that Nyatanga was perfect but he was a distinct improvement on Fontaine.
Welcome back, Hawkmoonfy, from the old 606 days.. It's good news you are keeping well enough to get to the Robins games, and are able to contribute to the forum. I do feel sorry for Liam Fontaine. You do not suddenly become a poor player over a few games, and he will be more aware than anyone that his errors have cost us goals. Every defender and goalkeeper will be remembered for his 1% of mistakes, every forward for the 1% of his goals. It may not be fair- but that is the way it is.
