Third and final part of an exercise in judging who should play for England http://www.eplindex.com/14112/england-xi-part-3-strikers-opta-stats-analysis.html?
I'd absolutely love to see holty up front with two wingers (young, theo, sturridge etc) with a guy just in behind him. Rooney when he's available but till then gerrard would be good in there. Add Parker alongside another central midfielder behind that (lampard, Milner etc) and we've got a team with flair, balance and strength. Plenty of width, plenty of defensive cover with Parker in front of the defence. Holty can hold the ball up and poach goals from the wingers. It's a team that would succeed. Holt will work as a provider for gerrard etc as well as taking the chances given to him. Holt for England, there is no counter argument.
wow, that's a pretty deep analysis of the main contenders and shows just how far ahead of everyone rooney is. of course, playing in a very successful side will always improve these type of figures as the service given to the striker will be that much better.
Bent is as good as the teaboy at the euros though, he's crocked. I'd definitely have had him, but the fact is he is t available. The amount of people that say to me "holt shouldn't play ahead of Rooney" ... First two games, no Rooney, how many times do I have to explain that one lol
Bent for me has been pretty pathetic so far on the international stage. I wouldn't take him crocked or not.
I thought he looked okay in a 4-3-3 up top (think it was Rooney and Walcott either side) I do rate his positioning, but he is wasteful for England vs club form.
aren't we likely to play 4-5-1 i'm putting any hope on Ruddy getting called up now, as i've accepted that although Holt deserves a chance in a friendly, it isn't going to happen.
This proves Grant Holt should be considered for selection FACT ! http://www.eplindex.com/14112/england-xi-part-3-strikers-opta-stats-analysis.html
There is the proof then. Holt is the second best English striker in the Premier League. FACT! Won't make absolutely no difference, as he won't go whatever happens.
