that would mean Perch is likely to get the nod. now we know he has no aerial prowess whatsoever but playing alongside williamson might help him a lot in this respect. now i'm not particularly a fan of Perch but one thing i will say for him mis he does have a bit of pace and hes actully quite good in one on one situations. I personally think with Willo along side he might seem a bit steadier than his usal displays. plus they should know each others game reasonably well from the reserves.

no substitute for colo being missing but i think we should have enough there to take Brighton.

Perch is a Championship-quality defender and its against a Championship side, so I think it's fairly even in that respect.

Now we just need to make sure that the rest of the team is of a better quality. Hoying in youngsters won't cut it.

Perch will get the nod, but it should be Danny Simpson with Raylor in at RB.

Simmo proved at Norwich he is a better defender than Perch will ever be and Perch has proved when he plays we ship at least 3 goals.

    -----------Krul----------
    Raylor Simmo Willo Santon
    ---Guthrie----Cabaye----
    HBA------Vuckic----Jonas
    ----------Best-----------

The defence doesnt strike me as stable but its the best we have with Colo out.

If we score 4 it shouldnt matter......

I can't recall Perch being that good at one-on-one situations as his 5 yellows in 5 consecutive games last season ensure I go into a blind panic whenever he's in the defensive lineup so I generally miss everything good he does.

He's certainly better as a DM so maybe he just gets better the further away from our penalty area.

If so, striker? He'll be immense!

This! Although he was just part of a defence that conceded 6 against Man Utd just yesterday <laugh>.

In all seriousness he is not ready yet but in a few years time hopefully he will be!

Some people are extremely harsh on Perch.

He is not **** if put with the right player!

Against Chelsea with Saylor he only conceded 1 goal.

He's crap in the air, but good on the ground. He can put in a good tackle, he works hard and isn't bad.

It's ridiculous the crap he gets sometimes. I would never start Simmo at CB.

As long as we don't rely on Perch to win much in the air, he's a decent back up CB. Willo and Perch can do the job.

He needs to give Kadar a chance. Unfair on the lad to ignore him.

I do think Perch and Williamson will work. As already stated, it's getting the right combo of players.

In genuine honesty, Perch has actually been quite good the past few games.
He might just put in a great performance tomorrow, or he could be **** and we'll lose to championship side in true Newcastle fashion.

    But, there is another option...

Trying to decide if you're making a joke about playing with ten being a better option, or you've made a formation porn fail...

perch would usually get booked for a wild and late tackle if a players coming at him head on he seems to do alright but he's prone to diving in if hes the one chasing.

On another note, Cabaye was "doubtful" for the Fulham game.

Could it be a bit of mind games from Pardew?

Doubt it, what would there be to gain? I'd be very tempted to rest Colo either way.

I don't really mind if Perch plays, I just don't want to see Shola. I would be worried if it was in the league but we are playing an average championship team, he should be alright.

    Hopefully anyway
