If Chester is our 'top target' then Mills must surely be on his way ....

Is Chester really your top target though, or is it just a way of trying to unsettle things at one of your potential promotion rivals?

Trying to take the view from NP's position you've got 4 centre halves, you're unlikely to shift 2 of them due to wages, and the other two, including the one you signed are in the team. You know that we've got a few ex-Man U lads who are settled here because they all know each other, so if you put in a low bid that will never be accepted and you start unsettling one of them it could unsettle the others and cause a total collapse. It's obvious that even if you don't want them for yourself, the best bet is to choose the one that will attract most attention from elsewhere if they become unhappy.

Looking at it from a player's point of view, if he was coming in making stupidly low offers compared to what he was saying I was worth before he left I'd look at it as "well if that's all you really think I'm worth I'll stay where I am", but I don't have an agent telling me to think something else.

Well, if the rumours of Mills leaving are true then it means we currently only have 3 CBs with the departure of Tunchev.

I can also see SSL leaving.

We need to get a new centre half. I think Wes Morgan is the only centre half we have who is 100% nailed on to stay. Tunchev has left, Mills will go and St. Ledger and Bamba could stay but they could go

I think James Chester would be one of Nigels preferred choices but i think he will have other defenders lined up aswell

Ricardo, if we are doing what you suggest we might be, we could only unsettle a player that wasn't comitted to Hull and didn't want a move elsewhere - Do you really want those players at your club?

I read that your owner has gone public in stating that you won't be selling any players to anyone, so I thought lets move on to other targets, then I remembered him saying he wouldn't let Pearson come to Leicester

So of all the clubs that have a great chance of promotion next season, we've targeted Hull, a club in turmoil already, to unsettle? That makes little sense...

Are there clubs in for either of them, or is it just that NP wants shot of them?

It makes more sense when you know the bid for Chester was made and rejected last week, and the turmoil started this week. (and no I don't think the two are related)

The only players that wouldn't be tempted by the chance of doubling their wages (with no drop in division) would be players who are made for life and are playing for the club they've supported from being a kid. I don't want to restrict ourselves to that or we'd be in the position where I was an inheritance away from being in our first team.

It's not a criticism of NP by the way, it's what I'd do if I was managing a team, and it's no different to the mind games in the press between the big clubs in the PL.
