We'd have said this is what you're getting, take it or leave it. I love Bielsa and what he has brought to our club, but if a player was dragging his heels he would be given an ultimatum, it's not as if we're trying to keep Bielsa on the cheap. Whilst we hang about waiting for Bielsa to make a choice (which isn't really his choice as we can extend his contract anyway), we may miss out on players/managers which may be itching to join us. I'm waiting to be shot down in flames.....but it just my opinion.
So the choice is either missing out on Bielsa, or missing out on his replacement +/or players? Put another way, choosing between a genius (with a great track record) that knows what he needs to deliver success, or an unknown quantity who will do it his way. (Think Pullis getting rid of most of the squad & bringing in 'his trype (sic) of player'). I'd love to see an solid argument being put up for not voting Bielsa. I doubt it exists.
Fair point, but how long do you wait for the 'genius' to make his mind up? Just as an example do you wait another month (while he goes on holiday) only for him to return and then say no?
I posted this elsewhere a couple of minutes ago - I honestly believe Bielsa's already said yes, but it's the conditions he's set that are causing Radz problems - like war chest, who gets sold, signing targets etc.
Of course that’s it. It makes perfect sense as Bielsas only interested in promotion and has already said last seasons squad haven’t enough left in them for another season
That's exactly the problem, no point him staying if the conditions don't give him a good chance of promotion. Rad needs to sell if we aren't going to make a genuine attempt at promotion.
Radz has just coined £10m+ cash from season ticket sales. He could take a risk & spend it all, hoping to raise more investment for all the usual bills as the season progresses. Personally, the thing I'm really looking forward to is clearing out all of the deadwood. Not on loan - just get them signed elsewhere or pay them off, so we can see the wood for the trees. If we have a fire sale, we might even get a bit of cash out of it. All these hangers-on must be a right drain on our resources.
Spot on, i would love to be in charge of getting rid of the hangers on, we need to get rid, even by mutually ending the contracts/paying them off.
And when we pay off all the hangers on, where does that cash come from? It’s same story every season trying to get rid of deadwood. As Orta signed most of the deadwood, what’s the likelihood he’ll get it right next time. Even when he had a bit of cash he brought Bamford and Douglas in
