Forest are playing Watford tonight.....still goalless after 15 mins although Forest have hit the bar......out of interest why on the stats does hitting the woodwork not count as an attempt on target??????
Why would you 'target' the woodwork? The idea is to get it between the woodwork, hence why it's not on 'target'.
Ok....so say a shot from edge of area gets blocked by a defender standing by the penalty spot, it counts as an attempt on goal even though it didn't get within 12 yards of the goal whereas an effort that hits the woodwork and is only a matter of inchs from being a goal doesn't......weird or what...... Not shooting the messenger or anything Steel, you are probably right...
err, because its not on target, the end result of hitting the post is the same as hitting the corner flag. When I did the FA coaching course for idiots years ago, the bloke who took us had a pet hate of people who yell 'bad luck' when a shot hits the woodwork, or goes close. "it's not bad luck" he'd scream "it's poor technique!".
I think it's the same with deflected goals that they give as OGs - if the initial shot is on target. but deflected, the goal is "scored" by the attacker. However, if the initial shot is off-target and deflected into the goal I think it becomes an OG...don't quote me on that though, that's what the infamous "dubious goals pane"l is for!!!!
After what they did to Man City last Saturday this should be no surprise. Let's hope they don't collapse the same way...
Tramore I think you have answered the question why you shouldn't read too much into some stats ans for the record I would have thought the woodwork was on target as it is the target.
Well, INSIDE the woodwork is the actual target, the woodwork is just a specific sized frame needed to show where it is Forest get one back. Decent game.
