NW's recent quote “I would drive him over if they offered us £20million.” Warnock admitted. "You are never going to change Adel. I don't think we have ever been hunky-dory in our relationship. It is just a different culture that some players have.” Last season, Adel was like Neil's second son. I'm sure his wife had him over for Sunday lunch. Now, they were never hunky-dory! Writing on the wall. PS Apologies Northolt re earlier thread. Thought it might be discussed without reversion back, but no such luck.
He should of never been kept. And this isn't hindsight, I said it from the moment the full-time whistle blew against Leeds. Hasn't been able to make the step up with utterly predictable consequences.
i see it more as 'we've got more chance of winning the league than getting £20m for adel'. i still think/hope he'll stay and come good.
Caught up watching the QPR player today ... NW said a few words about AT and they can of course be taken anyway. I couldn't detect any unrest in NW's eyes about the subject of Adel Taarabt. I still sense he believes in him in a way and i am still sure he will make an appearance or two and an impact in the remaining games of this year.
I think there's not a hope in hell of getting 20 million for him. Yet, I believe he really is worth this much and if we were to sell him for less than this, we would all live to regret it.
If we get 20mil for him, and Neil's car is at the workshop, and Superhoop's has broken down (again), I'll buy a ticket back home and drive him myself. Providing QPR pay the standard 85p per mile.
It's always dangerous to read intent into quotes because the context and manner in which they were said can not be known, but there appears to be an edge to what Warnock said here; a bitterness maybe, or a payback for some of Adel's outbursts to the press. I find it quite sad and depressing this whole affair; it's not the right way for Taarabt's spell at QPR to end.
Agreed. NW's tone has changed markedly from last season. Then, Adel was vital to the promotion push and his testing temperament was tolerated. Now...the team doesn't appear to need him - its best performances are without him. He must feel like the proverbial tart at a pimp's wedding right now. I don't think NW would need to drive Adel to PSG - he'd be there already, sitting on the step with his kit bag ...
Keep the faith lads never forget our roots ... Watch a few adel vids if need be ... What a genius player .. if this thing went sour then regrets on all sides I feel.
I've tried my best to stay out of this as the Adel argument is just being regurgitated over and over. He is finished at QPR but NOT because he's not good enough for the Premier league. His confidence was shot to pieces by being made scared stiff to try anything for fear of being severely bollocked by Barton etc. NW also appears to be undermining his confidence but that could be mind games from the manager in an attempt to get a reaction. Unfortunately I don't see that working as Adel needs to be told how great he is to get the best out of him imo. People keep saying that Adel is always saying he wants to leave, but, in fact in his latest interview he said he was happy here! I do recognise however that we can't afford to indulge his sublime talent whilst struggling to stay in the top league when he is so out of sorts.
C'mon Col, stepping up is not just about raw talent (if it was, Buzsaky would've been a top flight player yrs ago) its also about mental strength and maturity. I always said he has frightening ability as has Redknapp, Warnock etc. Only a fool would say otherwise. But with his antics in the Ch'ship, I said on record that he would not get away with that at this level and so it has proved thus far. True its easy to jump on a player when hes doing bad but I'm not saying anything I didn't say all pre-season.
