Absolutely disgusted by a small section of the Home crowd today who booed and barracked young Luke Hyam! He is Ipswich through and through and this is no way to behave at a game. We are always banging on about bringing in our young talented academy players but what's the point if there are some morons who insist on booing them? OK Luke missed a sitter today but overall he has brought a freshness to our team and his job is to break up play and support the attackers when he can! No Ipswich player should ever be booed whilst playing for us and I include Nouble in this. We are aiming for Cat 1 status very soon but what's the point of investing serious money in our youth system if there are morons out thee who just moan constantly when they play? We should be encouraging the likes of Luke Hyam and Jack Marriott not bloody booing them! Rant over!
Good post Warky and I find it unbelievable behaviour...very poor way to treat one or our own, and he has tried damn hard to up his game. We all bleedin well know he isn't a forward! So, what can we do about this? How can we respond to these idiots? I am now in contact with the Supporter's club chairman - any ideas? The last thing any young lad for his confidence is bloody booing! Let me know guys and will act!
I don't think anyone meant any offence, but he was having a shocking game and should have been substituted. You can't afford to let someone make mistakes like that against your bogey team. On the plus side, I had the honour of sharing a train carriage with some Watford fans to London after the game. The way they went on you'd have thought they'd won the league, not drawn against a team they usually beat! Lots of cut-price casuals on the train. Hilarious!
Agree with everything that has been said, it is absolutely crazy to jeer our own players, we should make things difficult for the opposition, and like Mick says make it hostile for them, don't think anyone in the team puts in more effort than Hyam, but for me this will never disguise that in my opinion he's just not good enough for this standard of football, put yourself in the oppositions shoes, can this guy hurt us, and make a big impact on the game, sorry but the answer is no
I don't want to sound contrary, but I do think Hyam is, or at least can be, a good player. I also think that he is passionate about the club and it shows in the way he plays. I agree that he's far from the finished article, but he deserves his place in the first 11 or at least on the bench. I just think he wasn't on it yesterday (understatement of the year).
Bring the gallows back.... On a more serious note, you shouldn't boo your own players unless they've done something really stupid against the club (but then I'd hope they wouldn't even be in the team if that was the case). I'm surprised by Hyam because I thought Mick would be the kind of manager to get the best out of him but if anything he's looked very average since Micks been here, I saw some of his best performances under Jewell when he was put in that more DM role, I'm don't think he should be pigeonholed into that role as I think he is capable of being a little more box to box but keeping it simple and breaking up play are his strengths not making things happen and I think he's been charged with this since Mick has been here and I don't think he's suited to it.
