I am thinking about doing some competitions over the summer months when it gets a little quiet and one of the ideas I had, as we have a lot of movie watchers is to have a movie style quiz but I am not sure how to do it best and in the fairest way. I can make use of an external website to post images etc, and even include a form for submitting answers etc but beyond that I am not sure. My initial thoughts were along the lines on posting a series of pictures, 1 day = 1 picture, starting with an image that may not be easily recognized unless you know the movie inside out, and then gradually making them easier. Correct answer on day 1 = 10 pts, Day 2 = 7pts, day 3 = 5pts and so on. So, I throw it open to those of you who would be interested in taking part. Suggestions on here please, not PM
That sounds good, I'd be up for joining in. There's a game we ran during the off-season called "Mafia" which worked pretty well, and would easily work here. I was surprised actually how well it translated from a game for a group of friends to a forum game. It's basically a murder mystery, where at the beginning 2 players are secretly chosen as murderers, and every couple of days they'll kill a player in the night. Between deaths, everyone has to try and work out who the killers were, and try and kill them as a group before the murderers strike again. There's a couple of other roles thrown in the mix too, but people got the gist of it really quickly and we're now on our third iteration on the F1 board. I'm happy to run it over the summer if there's enough interest. It only takes 2, maybe 3 weeks depending on how many join in, so we can have several games if people like it, and if other people fancy a go at narrating, it's easy enough to run. (Usually the narrator includes some kind of story backdrop to what's happening, for example, 2 Ipswich fans sneak onto the fans bus on the way back from a Europa league game in Russia, and kill people off whilst they doze on the bus)
If anyone else is curious about it, we've just started the 3rd edition on the F1 board, there's a more full explanation of the rules here
What about another game going through the alphabet letter by letter - each post has to name a club beginning with the next letter in the alphabet followed by a player we acquired from them i.e first post would be Arsenal = John Devine be interesting to see how many times we get around the alphabet come mid august - what do you reckon?
How about I just go down the pub and sit in the beer garden by the Wensum and get slowly drunk with the sun on my back? I like that game in the close season.
Being the competitive chap I am I would be up for any competitions run on here. I like the movie based theme Thai. At the end of the day it's all a bit of fun - don't get me wrong, I play to win but I would enjoy the taking part and competitive element against the equally skilled and intelligent people who frequent these boards.
Movie quiz is a good call. I'll be up for that when all we have to talk about is transfer rumours. Best dust off the caption comp too.
okay then, there will be at least 3 of you up for a movie quiz thingy, I will give some more thought to the format then
To be honest, this season has worn me out and I'm looking forward to a few weeks away from the neuroses of being a football fan. Having said that, I'll probably be bored rigid by week two and sneaking back on here to see if there is any transfer news.
