Troy Deeney's goal against Leicester being in the news again this week set me thinking - I'd like to start a framed photo collection of 'Iconic Goal of the Decade'. The thought received further inspiration by finding this on Facebook today - https://www.facebook.com/watfordfc/...7J2yLjsxzw5E2xK5BtPaPs6gV1Coh5DxbcWhxm7hnrBxl - although the goal I have in mind isn't included there - Jay DeMerit's. Before starting the hunt for suitable photos, I guess I have to decide which goals fit the bill - and my obvious problem is that having been overseas for 30 years, I'm missing two decades. So far, I'm thinking: 1960s - Scully's goal at Old Trafford in the FA Cup; 1970s - Endean's goal that knocked Liverpool out of the FA cup; 1980s - ?? 1990s - ?? 2000s - Jay DeMerit's in the play-off final against Leeds; 2010s - Troy Deeney in the play-off semi against Leicester; 2020s - has there been one? Any thoughts?
Finally decided: 60s - Scully at Old Trafford 70s - Endean against Liverpool 80s - Riley against Plymouth 90s - Wright against Bolton 00s - DeMerit against Leeds 10s - Deeney against Leicester 20s - Deeney against Liverpool Now have to hunt down suitable photos online. Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the mention BB, I will look in the loft for a pic. Pity Lloyd D didn't get a place. Unique if not iconic but it was a good header.
What is particularly worrying is that I remember all those goals over seven decades and where I was when they were scored. I suppose that isn't as worrying as not remembering.
