So, who do you fancy? SA must be favourites but they always choke. I'll tip India as all their players play in the IPL which gives them a good advantage. England have as good a chance as anyone.
After a very shaky start Luke Wright's 99 helps England to reach 196. Can't see Afghanistan getting close to that.
No TMS again and there's nothing else on 5 Live Sports Extra. Maybe the NZ games aren't being broadcast because of contractual reasons? Pretty sure every other game has been on TMS. Pakistan look like getting to around 180, this game could go to the wire.
So, will it be giant killing monday? Think the organisers scheduled these two games last as they were the most likely to end in an upset.
No. For a second tournament in a row there were no upsets which is surprising given that there have been a few in the 50 over game and playing fewer overs seems more likely to result in one.
They are talking on TMS about what needs to be done to turn this England team around yet before this tournament they'd lost twice in twenty games, must have been doing something right. Yes, I'd have Prior in the team but the real glaring omission is Pietersen, he is our only "world class" batsman and made the difference in the last world cup.
Pakistan won a thriller against SA who looked to be in control, don't mention the c-word... Aus thumped India. I had SA and India as a double so that's 4 out of 4 wrong, next time I'll try backing the teams I think will lose.
Good win for England, still in it, will need to beat Sri Lanka if WI beat NZ. If NZ beat WI could still get into semis due to having better run rate than those teams. If Pakistan beat India that'll be India and SA knocked out.
Problem for England is the number of changes each game, the international side has done so well in many forms of the game by keeping selections consistent.
Great effort from Patel and Swann but it was a very tough chase having lost those 3 early wickets to Malinga. Need to put the Pietersen row to bed and pick our best team.
Not sure we know what the best team is, the ECB are too arrogant and have tried to make too many changes too quickly. Pater did well though.
India and SA out. Sri Lanka look favourites now with their quirky bowlers and solid batting. Aus and WI have the explosive match winners and Pakistan have been consistently decent so who knows.
