Jordan Ibe: Birmingham City sign Liverpool winger on loan

Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe has joined Championship club Birmingham City on loan until the end of the season.
The 18-year-old featured as a substitute in Liverpool's emphatic 5-1 Premier League win against Arsenal earlier this month.

It was only the England under-19 international's third senior appearance for the Reds since moving to Anfield from Wycombe in 2011.

Ibe is available to make his Blues debut against Blackpool on Saturday.

He was only 15 when he made his senior debut for Wycombe in August 2011 and followed that up by scoring his first professional goal two months later, following a superb run and finish, in a 2-1 loss to Sheffield Wednesday.

His move to Liverpool followed in December, but it was not until their final game of the 2012-13 season that he made his senior debut, starting in a 1-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers.

Ibe also scored on his England U19 debut, a 6-1 victory over Estonia in September.

  2. Great news IMO.

He's not going to see much first team football here with SASAS and Coutinho ahead of him and Ibe needs game time.

Hope Raheem doesn't get injured now <yikes> Good for Ibe though hopefully. He's now the only reason I can think of to watch Birmingham City....

Great News. After coming into the side at the end of the last season, It would be a real shame to see him go a season without first team football.

I think he will force his way into their first team quite quickly and really light up the championship.

Think Rodgers needs to pray to the Gods now and beg for mercy with injuries.

Ibe gone leaves us with Moses and Aspas(?) as wide options on the bench.

Should be a good opportunity for him to develop though.

Ibe would never play in front of those two though. Perfect sense to send him on loan. not saying those two options are great but no point wasting a year.

Can Tex-Shearer not play wide? I know he is more a central player.

He seemed to be cutting in from the left the other week. Thought he looked more promising than Ibe, Moses, and Aspas. Did more attacking on his debut than those three combined have done all season.

I know he's new and virtually unblooded still... but so is Ibe.

Moses does have skill imo. He can provide more goals than other forwards bar SAS. It's a pity he's like a Glen Johnson on dope these days. One has to wonder whether he'll ever find the drive to perform at the highest level this season or after we hand him back.

Good move for Ibe. Won't get much if any playing time with us so hopefully gets some decent run out in Champ.

Shown he had potential in glimpses so now's a time to show it.

Great deal all round. Experience will benefit Ibe and help him become a better and maturer player. Him returning as that better player will benefit us and his qualities will benefit BCFC.
