With Spurs, Man Utd, Man City, Fulham and Liverpool all interested, that sounds like poor negotiating to me, unless there is a big sell on clause. I would have thought £1m would have been nearer the mark. I thought Man C had a £1m deal on the table.

Are you sure this isn't just another piece of speculation? There's no mention of this on bbc or skysports website, so I'm unsure about this at the moment.

If true then I'm surprised at the timing of it but we had to cash in on him soon before EPPP came in. I think getting £1m up front is a bit hopefull given that he's only played a handful of games. It's the performance related clauses we should be most concerned about.

they did. however one thing which must be considered is how jorden feels about it, given that he is only 16, and if moving to manchester is really something he wants to do. a big sell on clause would also be good (something in the region of 100% :D ). they may possibly have promised him to move out on loan to us instantly. Also, he is only leaving in the summer according to the report, so that may resuslt in the lower price. having said that, i was hoping for more

He was at Liverpool in the summer for a tour, given the red carpet treatment, etc I remember hearing. I would imagine it very unlikely they he would be loaned straight back to us. How often does that really happen?

£500k up front for a 15/16 year old is a lot of money and with the EPPP coming in next season I would be surprised for us to get much more. The clubs interested in him have us over a barrel pretty much with take it or we will get him for cheaper in the summer. Its not a case of bad negotiating as we don't really have much of a position to negotiate as realistically he will not be with us next season so we need to cash in.

We can speculate all we want about what we think we should get for him. The sad fact is though (if this is true), that we are a small club in the 3rd tier of English football and all the big guns will know they can take him off us for next to nothing. 500k isnt a lot in their terms but it is to club like ours. And we can forget about getting him on loan. Good luck to the lad, we are gaining a good reputation for producing quality youngsters. We should be proud. :)
