I've never had a problem with him. He puts his foot in his mouth sometimes, but he's good value, and even that comment about the saints fans is hardly anything to get worked up about. I've never understood the enmity towards him.

Me neither - he just tries to get the best out of his players for his club. Palace won`t be rolling over for anyone - I hope we get and early goal to make them come out and play.

Nothing wrong with a bit of banter. Would you want a rugby-esque atmosphere?

Yes, there is nothing wrong with banter when its... a) original b) humourous

There is a lot wrong with banter when its... a) the same old songs sung over and over and over again b) utterly pointless & self defeating

The atmosphere at St Mary's this season has been crap. I fully expect Palace to make more noise tomorrow. Love them or hate them, their "ultras" have at least kicked their support up a notch and added variety and positivity to their songs.

I agree with the need for the banter to be original in general, however as Kev Phillips may come on tomorrow I'm expecting no originality in that song and he still deserves it!

When all is said and done holloway is original and anything but bland. Although he comes across as a nob he is more interesting than most managers and i respect him for that. Doesn't mean we can't throw some chants at him and his team- im sure he's not so fragile he will actually be upset.

I don't know he's at the end of a long career and did his bit for us. Whatever was said was a long time ago- we are a different club now.

Aaaah...the early goal. I have heard from fans of other teams that this mythical thing exists, but have never seen it myself.

I have witnessed such a thing, honest Fran. John Hewitt scored for Aberdeen away at Motherwell in the Scottish cup 3rd round after 9 secs in 1982 - Aberdeen won the cup that year, got into the ECWC the following year and won that. And the scorer of the winning goal v Real Madrid - John Hewitt !
