http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/21751/quartet-linked-with-blackpool-boss Would be a great manager for us, done wonders at Blackpool and a real character! Shame it won't happen...
Would certainly welcome Holloway before MM, same attributes, more entertaining brand of football. Won't happen though sadly.
He'll go to Blackburn, surely. Won't even have to move house and they aren't in a total shambles courtesy of Keano/PJ.
Holloway would be a brilliant manager for us, great character and his teams play good football. However I don't see why he would choose us above the over clubs interested in him (unfortunately). Maybe its time for cleggy to finally earn his worth!
Guys, the reason Ollie might choose us over others is because he loves Ipswich Town and admires us as a club, he is not a big time Charlie who would just go for the biggest club, he would go somewhere that felt right for him and i think he loves a challenge. Also you say why would he move, maybe because he is a southerner (SW) and would prefer Suffolk to the North! I think this is a posibility but we would have to pay £500k compensation and i can see Clegg ****ing it all up!!
I fear we had our chance with Holloway already. He was interviewed (I think) but was considered not good enough for the roll Is this because our chairman & chief exec know so much about football?
Lets step back into reality for one moment. Nice idea but if we pulled that of it would be close to a miracle.
my question is: do you really want a lunatic running the asylum? he's great entertainment, that is undoubted, and he's a pretty good manager too, but the guy is a clown. is a clown what you are looking for right now? he might cheer you up i suppose! in my experience, clowns don't tend to save teams from relegation, holloway being one of those... ps. i don't think this is a move that is completely out of the question. i think he'd consider it. he has had terrible issues with karl oyston and is looking for a way out. there are better options (if you consider blackburn or palace better) but there could be some legs in this
I'm not sure there are better options for him. If he goes to Blackburn he'll have more of the same and it strikes me he would relish the chance to manage a club with our history and facilities after the smaller clubs he's managed. I think he's the best man manager there is. He's exactly what we need to sort out the motley crew.
I would be absolutely over the moon if it happened, i think it would bring the feelgood factor straight back to the supporters. and at only 500k compo it would be the best signing cleggy has made in his time at the club. Go get him boys!
supers face it, you would be ****ting yourself if Olly came to us, thats why your putting a dampen on it.
****ting myself? absolutely ridiculous mate. i still think you'd go down. as i say, clowns don't tend to be successful in relegation battles. he's a good manager - he is not exceptional in any way. i think the fact he's got the most talented side in the championship, blackpool, sitting outside the top six shows you that. don't get me wrong, i'm a massive holloway fan, but not because of his managerial abilities - i'm a fan because he makes me laugh. his teams are attack-minded, therefore decent to watch. can they defend? no. do they win more than they lose? no. there's a time and a place for 'olly'... do you really think that time is right for ipswich right now? if so, i'm very surprised and think you're being attracted to the 'name' more than anything
on second thoughts, scrap the 'win more than they lose' line. i guess being blackpool manager he probably does at the moment! but i bet his win record is well below 40%. he's even got a record of taking leicester city down from the championship.
If Town don't appoint an up and coming manager, they should get Billy Davies. Unfortunately for you boys, we all know that you are likely to make the wrong choice.
out of interest, where has this olly rumour come from? i only ask because i checked the odds and he is as much as 50-1 with some bookies for the ipswich job, some aren't even offering odds, yet he's 2-5 for the blackburn position. are the bookies that stupid?
Ipswich fans looking for crumbs of comfort due to the fact McCarthy or Curbishley will more than likely get the job?
Mick McCarthy and Matt Holland as an assistant the bookies are making McCarthy hot favourite across the board and I will be delighted to see him here
not sure its that carra - they must have got it from somewhere, and like i say, i could genuinely see holloway being attracted to the ipswich position. i just can't understand where the rumour has come from if the bookies don't seem to care. people obviously aren't betting on it. as far as they are concerned its going to be mccarthy. now bookies aren't always right, of course, but they have no interest in him being appointed ipswich manager. maybe that will change as the day goes on, who knows! i totally understand why ipswich fans are attracted to him - its the same reason some of our own fans were when lambert left - its cos he's a character and his teams play attacking football. well actually, they don't - its only blackpool who have played that way under his managership. ask leicester fans what they think of him... qpr were terribly dreary under him too. he's a good manager but for guru to say we'd be '****ting ourselves' if he was appointed is one of the funniest things i've ever read in all my days. holloway would simply add to the circus down the A140.
that makes sense. holland was a player under him wasn't he for ireland? whether its a good move i don't know. gut feeling is he'd be better than jewell, but he's still manager who is used to losing football matches on a regular basis.
