Ian Dowie-much derided on here on other publications has just gone up in my estimation. I read in the Guardian that he has a Masters in Engineering and at one time worked at British Aerospace. Just goes to show that sound engineering principles, rigor, invention, attention to detail and discipline don't necessarily translate into keeping a team in the Premiership.
how many times did that piss poor side we had since the window shut crumble under Dowie ? i dont think we ever did
it's easier to keep a team up if they are not already in the drop zone when you inherit them. especially if they only have crap players.
That's why the oft heard comment at the time was "it's not rocket science". I'm not sure what standard his qualifications were, but they had him answering questions about it on one sports show a few years back and I hope to **** he didn't have a hand in anything I'm liable to fly in.
