You've all no doubt heard that Laudrup is stewing over meeting the release clause for Iago Aspas, thought to be 10 million euros. You all must be thinking, why gamble 8 million quid on a player with half a decent season at the top level? Because he is outstanding. I have watched Celta Vigo games this season, partly due to the hype Aspas has created and he has, almost single handedly, kept them alive. Selling him now would spell almost inevitable relegation. Not only is he comfortable on the ball, he makes himself a nightmare for defenders by not keeping to any structured position. Most of the time he will pick the ball up anywhere in the final third, making him impossible to mark. He operates as a hybrid of a No 9 and a No 10. Not only has he got the attributes of a striker but he can create goals as well as finish his own chances. He tends to play the right pass consistently, and has the vision to dictate play while spearheading the attack. Him and Michu could be interchangeable swapping attacking mid and forward roles during the match. The lad seems to have a decent work ethic, and will press for virtually the whole game. He has performed with fairly poor service at Celta, and I personally think he would set the Premier League alight. He is undoubted quality and if we sign him, we have another world class player in our ranks. Come on Huw, you know what to do. End of rave review hahaha
Have to admit, don't know too much about this guy so all free to shoot me down... but, hasn't he scored something like 6 goals in 18 games? to me that's not exactly that prolific - DG has scored 5 in about a 3rd less games and actually in the prem. I know he's been linked with Spain, however aside from the glitz and glamour that obviously comes with that - honestly, please enlighten me where he's demonstrated that he's class and for 10M euros... not convinced as yet....
Aspas started the season well but now the opposition is all over him in games cause they know he's Celta's only real threat so he don't score as many now. He looks exactly what we need and are looking for.
Based on the review by supersonic I would agree with you. We certainly have threats in many positions, and man marking one player out of the game makes chances for others. We need someone a little unpredictable up front and he could be that player.
I must admit I'd not heard of him up till about 6 weeks ago, when it was reported that Aesenal, and Atletico Madrid were in the frame, have only seen one short video of him, but thought his sell on clause was a tad high for us, though still fairly cheap for the premiership. Supersonic I'll accept what you say regarding him, as you have been watching him with Celta Vigo, but if you've got any good video links for Aspas, would be much appreciated!............
There's some sketchy stuff on You Tube and, if I'm not mistaken, our Michu appears in one of the games alongside him. Aspas looks lively, a Suarez type of player to me. If he is anything like as good as him, he's some player.
Iago Aspas has scored 6 La Liga goals in 17 La Liga games. That isn't too bad considering it means he has scored about a third of the goals for a team considered relegation candidates. It has taken all other players to score the remaining 10 goals they have scored so far this campaign. I like how he has over 50 shots so far and over 25 of those have tested the opposition goalkeeper, at least he is quite accurate... this guy could do a good job with Swansea's superior service in the final third of the pitch.
Eventually we are gonna have to splash out abit. If its for a striker that can knock on atleast 15 - 20 a season id be happy.
If anyone has Sky Sports I'd recommend watching the Spanish League highlights show, it'll show Aspas against Valladolid today, I didn't see much due to Swans Arsenal being on but he was outstanding
If ML thinks he's got that extra something then why not. If he plays the way he's been touted by Super then imagine the room he is going to create for the likes of Michu, Pablo, Routledge and DG depending on the line-up.
6 goals in 17 games whats that, 1 in 3 ,DG gave us that last season and most ex pros consider that to be a good return in the Premiership. Get rid of Lita and Moore and bring him in I say. Maybe we could pay him in crackers!!
