I'm kind of annoyed that Bruno was risked against Tranmere tbh. I really don't know if the cup is worth risking our better players. Bruno was clattered against Tranmere and I have a strong feeling that was the reason he was out. If this is a message to the board it's that our squad lacks depth. I know we could have won it, but still. Our best players out or walking on shakey legs and injured with hamstring issues... it's not good. We didn't play that well, but we were unlucky not to win because we should have had a pen. Ratings - Pope 7 - Couldn't do anything about the goal, but I really enjoyed his command of the final third. Trippier - 6 - Schar - 5 Botman - 5 Burn - 5 Willock - 6 - Awful chance missed, but besides that some decent runs and decent stuff on the ball Longstaff - 5 Joelinton - 6 Almiron - 6.5 - Was a decent threat and worked hard as usual Wood - 5 - Not bad or good ASM - 8 - Our best attacking option and what a screamer.
I agree with most but would only give ASM a 7. He’s not a team player and today it showed. He would be a 6 if he hadn’t have scored
I agree with most but Wood was absolutely ****. He gets a 3 for me. What did he do that was remotely positive?
I also agree with this. He was terrible in his decisions and it was basically a ASM show which shows why he isn’t always a team player. But the. He scores a world class goal. Can we afford him in this team atm. Just about. Get another 2/3 better players and we can absoluteky have that.
He got 3 assists last game. He's become more of a team player than he was before, but when we're playing **** with ****ing Wood and Almiron as your only support, it's understandable why he tries to score on his own.
Arguably our best player so far. Apart from brighton he's looked dangerous every game. Can't argue with his return so far. 4 goal involvements.
What has that got to do with his performance today? Nothing. He couldn’t cross a ball, he couldn’t beat his man and he couldn’t shoot. He then scores a tremendous goal and all of a sudden is an 8? Get away man
He made quite a few good runs and looked dangerous but the fecker can't do it all on his own. He made some runs into the box and had shots on target. Wood did **** all, and Almiron created 1 decent chance.
Yes he can’t do it all on his own so pass the ball or cross it in. Wood was open on at least 3 occasions but he was ignored.
Yes, ASM is frustrating, but flair players often are. At least he can change a game. He always has that threat of doing something special, regardless of what he does in the other 89 minutes. I'd 100% go for that over some of the other dross in the squad, some of whom offer literally zero. If Eddie and coaching team can help him to improve and be more consistent, then great. But either way, I'd still play him.
Disagree. He could be a great player with the right coaching as he has an abundance of natural ability and flair. He suffered more than most under Bruce due to lack of coaching at a key stage of his development and having to carry a team unable to give him any real support. The next year or so are very important for him as to how much he fulfills his promise which will depend upon how much he listens and works.
You’re wrong for a change? In the same way that everyone thought HBA could change with a different coach
I said it during the match and I still can't believe that that shirt pull was reviewed by VAR and still not seen as a foul, Lee Mason needs to be sat in a chair and given the James Bond rope treatment.
Longstaff Var rule 271/4b any head kick or shirt pull or any sort of infringement. No matter how dangerous is never a foul. Longstaff was once valued at 50m and thus should be allowed to take an absolute beating.
