    Where?

    And why not?

As an offshoot from the thread about the best places to go, any 'amazing' places that have underwhelmed you?

For me, it's got to be Edinburgh. Yes, the buildings were beautiful and historic etc. But there was no atmosphere that I could fathom, the people didn't seem to have local accents and gave off an air of jaded superiority; one said to me ' the trouble with coming from Edinburgh is that one is constantly disappointed by other places'.

    Have I got it wrong?

Luton closely followed by Stockport. No offence to anyone who lives in either of those places.

Folkestone. One night in the hotel on the front and that was enough even though we had paid for two. Seemed like a bit of a ghost town after the Bologne crossing stopped in 2000. One bit of beach was pleasant enough but one night was enough.

Very pleasant long drive to London through Kent and excellent pub in Sevenoaks.

I liked Edinburgh Twins. But maybe that's because I didn't meet one local for the entire week I was there! I kid you not, the only Scot we met was a lass at the Airport Check-In on the way home!!

The place was wall to wall with northern English people. We must've met fifty people from Carlisle over the few days!

I think I remember it. Wasn't that when they beat us (their tall striker scored ??) and it all went off on the pitch after. Oh the good old days :)

It went off on the pitch - outside the ground - all the way to the station - at the station... - yes the old days - not all of it so good.

Newcastle under-Lyme (beside Stoke). Was glad to get out of there with my life!

Plenty of sh*t holes in Ireland too mind.
