I was on tele and Talksport!

I was on tele around the 83rd minute, telling someone they had just been on the big screen. I also rang up Talksport, had a good discussion about targets, improving players and having a good laugh that we are 3rd!

But, on the performance, fantastic. Never expected that. My ratings:

Krul 8: Did what he had to do, made the penalty area his.
Simpson 8: Well played Danny!! Really impressed!
Colo 8: Solid as usual
Taylor 8: As above.
Raylor 9: A lot will disagree but he impressed me tonight, battled hard and has earned his place. Santon who?
Obertan 7: Slightly quiet, but did a better job than usual. Good assist.
Cabaye 6: Harsh? Maybe. Thought he gave the ball away in good areas, not his best.
Guthrie 8: Covered well for Tiote, battled hard and controlled the midfield!
Gutierrez 10: Couldn't fault him at all, well played!!
Best 8: Brilliant by Besty, no goals but he helps a lot!
Ba 11: Demba ****ing Ba!!!!

I am so happy tonight! 3rd is a reward for our start. We won't stay there but we are beating teams that we need to and got a ****ing bargain with Demba!

And for the bit highlighted in bold. We're picking up points that we didn't get last season! If we can beat the Sunderlands, Stokes, Fulhams and Wolveseses off this world, then we're only going to look up. I'm going to trot out my 'performance against last season' chart!

When we have not matched the result from last season, we have bettered it. If we can match our results against the top teams, then we're looking pretty good.

Really proud of the team tonight, and while the second half was a bit shaky, we fought hard and got what we deserved!

Totally agree with this, he just got battered and battered and stayed on the pitch, was solid on the left back, With Guti and him working together, Pennant could barley breath.

Pretty much agree with all your ratings, Ryan Taylor was awesome, as was Gutierrez and Ba!

 

Well done Leazes, isn't it great getting up in the morning after a game and it's all good. When we play badly I have a self imposed media blackout, we're getting heaps of praise and it sounds like Skysports News are running a trailer on Gary Nevilles comments on how to defend.
I agree totally on your comments about Ryan Taylor, he showed great character last night, definitely deserves his place in the team.

Raylor really deserves a mention. Given that he's not the most gifted footballer he's done really well. He was up against centre backs playing at fullback for stoke and took a couple of nasty blows but kept at it.

Hah, I saw you . Could not agree with your ratings more. Far from Cabaye's best game but he probably felt a bit lost in Pardew's tactic of the day.

What has become funny now is that we have people still saying we're 'untested'. What the hell do we get if we pass this test? Apparently once we've played both Manchesters and/or Chelsea we'll have been tested - hell of a compliment that!

I didn't watch the match but was listening to it on Five Live and we sounded awesome (sorry Secret Ingredient )

It struck me as strange when we got plaudits from the pundits about the squad and our defence.

 

Yea I heard you phone in. Was it you or someone else that said to Cundy is your neck hurting from looking above at us in the table? Made me laugh.

Still dn't understand how you can rate Gutierrez 10 and Obertan 7. Our wingers were equally as good as each other, they were brilliant in supporting our full backs and Obertan actually crossed a decent ball for a great assist and nearly scored straight after our penalty. For me, Obertan was just as much joint MotM as Jonas and Ba. Agree with Krul comments entirely, commanded his area brilliantly but his kicking and some of his catching/positioning for catching was poor.

 

Thought Obertan was a bit careless the odd time while Jonas was as good as flawless, but don't want to take away from his performance, probably his best all season.

would have given obertan a 8 personally just for the first half alone but you can't argue with the fact that we're a solid unit now something i don't think i've ever said about us in many many moons if at all.buzzing like all the fans.

think the threat of obers pace was enough to stop their CBs from piling forward
