Am i the only one who want C.Wickham as a Town player next season.

We've all been watching him get better and better and i want to see what sort of impact he could make playing in a (hopefully) stronger team.

I know with 10 million quid Mr PJ could strengthen the squad .

To be honest, I think I would be happy either way. If he stays, then great - a boost to the team and its' prospects for next season. If he goes, and we are £10m better off (to be spent on for new players) - not bad either. I don't think anyone could really begrudge, or not understand, Wickham wanting to move to the likes of Liverpool - great opportunity for him if it comes off.

No you're not alone JJ. I'd love to see him stay for another season at least. We are concerned about who we might sign to improve things right now and yet we have 'one of our own' in place already. It seems counter intuitive to me to be on the hunt for new talent at the same time as we letting such obvious talent leave. I'm with you; another year older, in a stronger team and he can surely only improve and we should get the double whammy benefit of that. Firstly, his contribution to our 2011/12 campaign but, also his bankable value should go up nicely, so when the inevitable does happen and he moves on, we could well be looking at something well north of £10M too. Lets hang on to him and not flinch and throw our winning hand in too soon is certainly my preference!

I'd love to see him stay. But 10mil+ is too good to turn down. We have always been a "selling club" (just like 99% of all other clubs in the world).

He should stay, i think it would be for his own benefit aswell and actually get a whole season of (presumably) being first choice under his belt.
Although the 10m would be nice were not in desperate need right now, and if he helps us achieve promotion the winnings are far in excess and we'd end up geting more then 10m for him anyway.

At least a season to early to sell.

Here's a thought; if promotion is really worth £30M (as we keep hearing from the pundits and media) and we think we might just have a chance next season (a whole other debate I know!) then economically, it would make sense to keep our £10M asset and use 'that' to secure £30M future inward investment - makes a pretty compelling cost benefit case to me!!!

The question is, is he a ten million pound player i don't think he is just yet, so you can no expect him to be the difference between success and failure.
Personally i'm happy to keep him here but 10 million for an unproven youngster is hard to turn down, as i've said before even with a good season/goal tally behind i don't think the big clubs will offer much more than 10m to a club like us, and he will never get a full international cap until he is at a big club which also holds down the fee.

    Agree 100%

Liverpool have sent the value of young English players (Henderson & Carrol) through the roof. We would be silly to turn 10mil down.

I'd like him to stay unless he made it known that he would rather move on. I don't want anyone playing for us who doesn't want to be here. I agree with many here who say it would be better for CW's development if he stayed here getting more first team football than being a bench warmer somewhere else. But if that's what he wants to do than I'll happily take the money and run.

I would be gutted if he went, think he is in for a great season and could prove the diff between promotion or failure.

I thought that promotion was worth £90 million not £30 million?

I think that we have only had a taste of what he can do so far, so I would love him to be here next season.

It's a tough one to call. On the one hand you have one of the most exciting Academy players coming through in the last decade, and one that is a consistent performer and a promising target man. It would be a reflection of our ambition if we kept him at the club.

However, I don't think he is worth £10 million at this moment in time. It is a stupid sum of money to spend on a striker who doesn't score regularly. There is also the risk that he fails to unleash his potential. Also £10 million is a lot of money and at a time where we need serious investment in defensive positions, it could be the cash injection we need to fund Jewell's promising transfer raids.

If Liverpool do decide to offer something north of £10 million, then I think we would be stupid to turn it down. At this moment in time we need reinvestment and I don't think Evans is going to throw loads of money like he did during the Keane era. Yet we should stand by our guns on this, no bowing down to a £7 million offer, we have had a habit of selling our good young players for much less than they're worth recently.
