Haven't you realised yet that Beckford was a one-trick pony. e's been found out. He only thrived with the ball over the top. All defences had to do was play deep & he hadn't a clue. Witnessed it so many times myself & couldn't understand why so many L1 defences played high against him. He's now as lethal as Mr Blobby. And lazier.
What? 20 goals in the last 20 months? 2 goals in 19 matches with Lesta? Scary scoring record that. (not that I follow him - just checked Wiki).
As someone who has been following his progress, the stats only tell half the story. He scored 9 Premier League goals in not many starts for Everton, which is good for a debut season. Then at Leicester he's not started much and has played as a lone striker and even on the left wing. He'll score goals if played right.
But we couldn't afford to play him right now, whereas we could in league 1. Getting Beckford would mean all but freezing out McCormack and Somma.
You mean our out of form top scorer from last season and our 4th and 5th choice strikers (when everyone's fit)?
I read somewhere that Ross McCormack is off to Wigan Tonight was quality from Beckford, he has now upped his work rate alot and now the goals have started to come. He isnt going anywhere
Becchio scored 20 goals at this level, Beckford is yet to prove himself above league 1. He's not scoring and has nothing else to his game.
