..... to enjoy One Fine Day from Madam Butterfly and the superb Tom Jones performance and then Robbie Williams with Mac the Knife. The absolute exquisite Shirley Bassey sang as only she can.

There was some absolute crap from an Australian slapper and an old git in a sequined jacket before joy with a wonderful aria from West Side Story.

A load more dross and then Paul McCartney sang a series of Beatles numbers.

I was cross that I had missed that gorgeous Annie Lennox but not sorry i had missed that Rhiannon or whatever her stupid name is.

If a little old lady celebrating something or other brings music like this to our telly then I am all for it.

I have to admit that I do like Queen but it was such a shame that they were not able to appear.

Anyway the little old lady, who ever she is, looked happy even if her old man was a little bit poorly.

I just hope that our other old folks get the same level of care and treatment as him if they are taken a little unwell.

Not very likely though is it not with this lot running the country.

    Deference Rules OK

Keep on grovelling all you Royalists.

    Vivre la République.

Why was Buck house painted with a Tricolour?

Well, we'll never see another diamond jubilee again, so lets keep the moaning to a minimum.

Having a monarchy is about the single most defining thing about Britain. Lose that and we lose a massive part of our soul, and our identity, and just you watch how quickly the rest of the world stops paying attention to anything 'British' as soon as we become as average as some of the other countries in Europe. I find it amusing how so many people bang on about 'tradition' when it comes to the shirt that a football team wears, but want to do away with it when it represents over a thousand years of our country's heritage.

Look at the England shirt for crying out loud!! Why do you think we wear three lions? Then go and look at the badge on the USA shirt, and tell me you want to wear something like that!! Absolutely lifeless, spiritless, meaningless.

As far as the homeless are concerned. They, generally, get a shed load of help and opportunities. That can't be questioned. I've worked with them a lot. They - more often than not - have themselves to blame. It's not the fault of the Royal Family.

Having some rich old family at the 'top' of the pile, so to speak, may seem daft, but it represents the very class system that we love and hate so passionately in this country. Without knowing it, its at the centre of everything we do, everything we say, everything we think. Try to think of a classic British comedy which didn't use the class system as the butt of it's joke. 'Fools and Horses', 'Fawlty Towers', 'Blackadder', etc.

Take away the Queen, and you might as well take away 'working class pride', and all the things that define us too.

And Spain, Norway,.....Swaziland,....and several others I can't be bothered to name. The history of it is wonderful and interesting, but to hang onto it just for the sake of tradition is not good enough. Surely having an elected head of state would set a better precedent? You know, because of that whole democracy thing?

Then again, it's something I really struggle to care about. The monarchy means nothing to me; it's just like a really fancy reality show.

Having a monarchy is about the single most destructive thing about Britain. Lose that and we lose a massive part of our inhibition and our living in the past, and just you watch how quickly the rest of the world rejoices as we become like other countries in Europe. I find it amusing how so many people bang on about 'tradition' when it comes to the shirt that a football team wears, but want to stay with it when all that it stands for has been so destructive for our country.

Look at the England shirt for crying out loud!! Why do you think we wear three lions? Because you are an unthinking defeernt creep.

As far as the homeless are concerned who gives a toss in this land of millianaire bankers and corrupt politicians They can't be questioned. I've worked with them a lot. They are a corrupt load of bastards. It's not the fault of the Royal Family for they are a throw back to the dark ages.

Having some rich old family at the 'top' of the pile is daft, for they represent the very class system that is destroying this country. Without knowing it, its at the centre of a corrupt regime. Try to think of a classic British comedy which didn't use the class system as the butt of it's joke. 'Fools and Horses', 'Fawlty Towers', 'Blackadder', etc. We are the laughing stock of the world. We are a grown up nation now so we do not need the trappings of a feudal society.

Start building the scaffold chaps. Ladies get out the knitting. The Monarchy is doomed.

    Vivre la Republic.

Tradition is nice and everything, but it has no relevance in politics. I think it's time to be fighting for separation of tradition and state.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to have someone like that little **** Sarkozy or George W Bush as our head of state.

Come to think of it why do we need a head of state?

I prefer the queen to donald trump, & thats what the next tenant of Buckingham palace would be like, so lets keep that piece of tourism flowing. Theres so many things to moan about nowadays, that the royal family have slipped far down my list. But if you think doing away with them would change how the rich keep getting richer, your sadly mistaken.

Let us follow the French lead and start chopping off a few heads.

Charlie boy is first on my list followed by Andy and then Ed. Queenie after that.

The "head of state" role is rather overrated, I agree. I read recently that Ahmadinejad, as head of state, is only about the 14th most powerful man in Iran. He may talk a lot of game, but he doesn't really have the power to back it up.

They would be followed by all those Russian oligarchs simply to avenge all those Russians robbed of their nations wealth just as we have been.

I forgot to say that the Aussie singer what ever her name is would be top of my list. Her singing is just far too dreadful to endure.

That Elton John bloke is a pal of Royalty so he is next on my list.

Millions throughout the world must be overjoyed at that news. Imagine never having to see or hear him ever again, absolute bliss.

Watch out Joe you are on my list as well for the dreadful crime of neglecting your embroyic thread and leaving it to others too incapable to care for it in you absence.
