I turned down other offers for QPR âBosingwa August 18, 2012 by Agency Reporter Leave a Comment | credits: José Bosingwa claims he had offers from many clubs but was drawn to Queens Park Rangers because of his âexcitementâ at what the future holds for the Loftus Road outfit. The Portuguese defender signed a three-year deal with the Hoops on Friday after being released by Champions League winners Chelsea at the end of last season. The 29-year-old, who is QPR boss Mark Hughesâ eighth summer signing, spent four seasons at Stamford Bridge after moving to west London from Porto in 2008. âIâm really pleased to be here,â Bosingwa told QPRâs website. âI had the pick of many clubs, but the project here excites me greatly. âI spoke yesterday with the manager and owner and they showed me what they want for the future of the club.â Hughes expressed his delight at landing the Portugal international â and hopes he can bring some more experience to his side as QPR look to cement their Premier League status. âJosé has a lot of versatility which is something I like my players to have,â said Hughes. âHe can operate right across the back and can also play the holding role in midfield. âHeâs another Champions League winner, the third in the squad now with Ji-Sung Park and Djibril Cisse, and will add invaluable experience to the group. âHis experience is really important to us. He understands the Premier League and he understands what it takes to win games. He has got a winning mentality and that is what I want to have around the place.â Bosingwa, who also won the Champions League with Porto in 2004, admitted he was looking to stay in the Premier League following his release by Chelsea.
Sh_t, we'd better hurry up and build that spanking new stadium we promised him he'd play in before his contract is up!
Seems every player we get says basically the same thing: “I’m really pleased to be here,” Bosingwa told QPR’s website. “I had the pick of many clubs, but the project here excites me greatly. “I spoke yesterday with the manager and owner and they showed me what they want for the future of the club.” I would love to hear their sales speech...
Finn - i was thinking the same thing or the cynic in me says that they could do with a bit more creativity in the PR/Press jnr in the office.
