I and many others have been accused of only complaining about unfair decisions when Chelsea get the rough end of the stick. I pre-empted this in some of my previous posts by denying it and then explaining the iniquities of the particular scenarios I was commenting on. Even so I still got told to shut up complaining.

My point was money in the game means adjudication has to be spot on, because cheating has become professionalised and accepted. Soccer is a big money business and mistakes must be rectified when discovered.

Now does anyone think Bashley should shut up and accept the decision and explain why? They aren't asking for the win, just a replay, a reset as the final result had nothing to do with how well or poorly they played.

Dfer-Footie technology has to be applied now there's so much wonga involved in the game these days! Poor old Bashley wont be able to benefit anyway if if happens. Have Bashley got nets on their goalposts?

Very harsh.

Gosport would have been knocked out if the goal was seen so they should be happy if they get the chance to re play and go through on merit. Wont happen though. Gosport should at least split the extra prize money - but they wont.

Bashley do have goal nets, one is broken and has a gap larger than a ball in it. Seven Gosport players after the match admitted it was a goal. Their manager explained it would be unfair for his players to admit that during the match. Basically he is saying sportsmanship is unprofessional. As a professional you are expected, or even required to lie for the common good. Is it just my ethics that squirm when I hear this? Even now the referee's error is discovered and the Gosport team's knowledge of the error can allow sporting justice to prevail, but as 100 YH has stated we know it won't happen and Gosport feel that they have done nothing wrong and the responsibility lies soley with the officials.

My big problem is that this is how our society is in general. 'Luvverly jubblee, wot a result, I'm alright Jack, **** you.'

Humans learn differently from other mammals, we can not run from Lions when 4 hours old. We have a more intricate system of learning through imitation, that we use throughout our lives. Consequently we exhibit herd behaviour and it is true that if a hundred people do the wrong thing number one hundred and one is more likely to follow suit. Individualism is often initially celebrated, but if persistent, considered quirky then weird then downright annoying. What I'm saying here, and I'm sure you have realised by now, is if we let these little matters pass we accept them, we make society worse and football is highly influential to us all. This particular matter is so easy it is wrong not to fix it, we already have the '**** off' society, the Big Problem is already manifest, but that is no reason to let it prosper or accept it. As a group football supporters can use peer pressure (that human imitation learning trait) to enjoy the game and make a large contribution to modern society.

Don't be a redneck, take the dead parrot back to the shop and complain till you are blue in the face. Why me? One Polar Bear does not have a large enough growl.

When I was at uni I started going to Exeter games and saw a similar problem with a goal not counting. Luckily they scored a few seconds later. The ref totally bottled the decision, everyone could see it went in. Just Googled it and it's on Youtube:

As much as I feel for them I don't think the FA should make an exception, it's against the rules and ultimately it's the opposition players that should have either owned up to the ref or let them score a 'free' goal. Whether a game like that would even be able to benefit from goaline technology at that level would be interesting to know. In my view video technology should be installed at at all levels, everyweek at Goals my team has a shot that bounces off the bar and either on or over the line, plus last week the dumb ref didn't give a goal that went at least a metre in from the post because it hit the ball behind the goal which flew in the air and bounced away from the goal Luckily the otherside's 'keeper said it definitely went in.

Almost every game I have watched over a very long time, has always featured as much post match comment about the referee as the performance of the teams. What he did wrong, what he didn't do right and almost always when the result went the wrong way! I always remember in the mid 60's a world reknowned referee-Jack Taylor,was refereeing a top of the table match! After one of the sides scored what turned out to be the winning goal, a howl of protest came from one of the losing teams players who went up to Taylor and screamed " Ref --that was never a bloody goal!!" Taylor responded " Oh yes it was son--and if you dont believe me just read the papers in the morning!"

I'm not getting onto referees. I just believe that the modern game is beyond one person and two assistants to umpire a match to a sufficiently high standard whoever they are. Now that players refuse to be sporting and are told not to be sporting referees don't have a chance to get through a couple of matches without missing something significant while players from both sides scream blue murder at each other and vehemently protest their own innocence. A fourth official exists but has no power over the match referee, so that's a joke and refs are monitored and scored by the FA, but all that happens is that refs get future demotion if they perform badly. Players can be booked or even banned by post match video evidence, but that doesn't amend any iniquity they instigated during that match, the result stands and no redress or justice for the team offended against.

Referees do the best they can and we are told that this should be enough. Well FA you are wrong. This isn't just an amateur game or past time, it is a multi-million pound industry and a two second slip by a ref can cost tens of millions. Sorry did I say can, I meant already has. To not use modern technology, to my mind, is tantamount to a crime.

I can see only one clear reason for keeping the current system of officiating in place and that is to provide matches where doubt and human error can be used as a cover to allow organised cheating to take place. So long as someone can say oh the ref had a poor game, betting syndicates have room to manoeuvre. Forget wanting players to play fairly, lets root out the evil of organised crime which we all know is there. I have severe doubts about the motives of the FA, UEFA and FIFA as to why they have stalled over video and goal line technology for so many years.
