Most of you might know I've had my one and only thread ever on the Swans board closed. The reason will probably be given that it was seen as a wum and was causing friction. It's still up there if anyone wants to lose the will to live and read some of the **** on there, but I'll just copy and paste a comment I left toward the end of the thread to TRY to get away from the crap and get some football discussion going over there between us. Apparently it was a just another wum comment and was jumped on - I'll leave you to decide, and please feel free to comment on the SUBJECT MATTER of the comment, not just the issue of "was it a wum or not". ---------------------------- "Quote Originally Posted by LIBERTARIAN View Post Not much fear of The Swans' being relegated, spark, too much class for that." ---------------------------- "Hmmm.........Vetch - I wonder if that's relying a bit heavily on the old adage "Too good to go down". You've got a two year head start over us up there and that should show dividends next year. We've got to learn and I hope we don't do it the hard way. Just staying up has become regarded as something of a success these recent years, and the split that's developed with the top half dozen dominating means that realistically any three of the other 14 are candidates for the drop. Some more likely candidates (like us) than others, but nevertheless still potential casualties. As far as you're concerned, much has been made about the tremendous coup that Michu's signing was for Swansea, and rightly so. With your lack of strike power generally, it could also be argued that Michu kept you up. Without him, your inability to score through midfield could have sent you down. Half a dozen points dropped next year from this season's tally through another Michu barren spell could be enough to do it. With him still there next season to get around 20 goal mark and you can find someone to chip in and help him, you've got a very decent chance of the upper mid table comfort zone with a pop at the European slots not that far away. As for us, it's a new experience and I certainly think that we'll be delighted just to stay up. Having said that, a clutch of new Prem quality signings in the summer added to what we've already got at the club could suprise a few already up there." Feel free - this is a free posting site for ALL to comment.
you sure your thread is closed? I do agree we def need a striker, dunno what you guys need bar half a dozen players.
Think whoever runs the jack board will try to invade Poland next ..............opps,will i get sued for that lol Can see swansea getting sussed out this season as most belive their own press but there are massive cracks behind the wallpaper. On the other hand Malkie WILL strengen our team to the best he can but as so many are saying now its a league within a league and you can go lets say 7 games without a win and still finish in top half...................;o)
Musty - the thread was closed the last time I looked so I suppose you weren't the one involved. After some typical reaction from Rabid 1 on the thread, I followed up with this what I thought was a reasonble comment: - "We had no one in our side who scored more than 8 goals but we still rattled up 72 goals - top scorers in the division. That means take any one of our players out for the full season and we'd still have scored at least 64 and still gone up - probably as Champions as well. Now take Michu out of your scorers table and where would you have been? I haven't looked at your stats before making this comment (honestly) but from what I remember of last season, there weren't many other major scorers in your squad. Without Michu, or someone similar with the same eye for goal, you'd be in the Championship now." I realise next season will be whole new ball game, but is that a fair assessment of the two clubs last season?
A bit of a 1 eyed view yes I know your sort sparky, you try to claim your creating debate, but you like to throw those snide lil digs in those comments of yours, and cry when you get a reaction. Im having an issue with 1 guy very much like you else where. And like you, he likes to plead his innocence Thats no different from me saying, "with your current game plan, with more players scoring, that your going to struggle in the premiership, as your going to be more backs to the wall, so forget next season, uyour going down". Although the statement is somewhat logical, the snide remark at the end, is what causes the problems, and thats exactly how you post, and then claim your innocence elsewhere.
without michu we would have struggled no doubt. as I did mention pri 1 is a striker, pri 2 is a cd as I think ash is off, pri 3 is another striker
I'm glad you know my sort swansalona - no doubt it'll help you with your psychology degree. ...and what's snide about my last remark - don't you think it's a reasonable assumption?
Sparkey, Although there are many Swan posters who can debate in a sensible manner, there are 4 or 5 who will always derail good posts, you only have to look at what happened to cartoon's post. People on both boards are getting fed up with the incessant bickering between fans. I think it might be best if we Cardiff posters refrain from posting on the Swans board until sense prevails, I know it's supposed to be an open forum but alas the inmates are running the asylum.
"I know your sort sparky, you try to claim your creating debate, but you like to throw those snide lil digs in those comments of yours, and cry when you get a reaction." ^^^^ This. Nothing snide about "no doubt it'll help you with your psychology degree" either. You don't even know when you're doing it.
Not really, as we didn't have michu last season but survived, its a one eyed view to create a reaction IMO. After all, isn't a strikers job to score goals, just like it is that defenders/keepers are there to stop goals. If your strikers are not scoring goals, then I would be worried about why you have to rely on other players to score them for you myself. "1 Robin van Persie Manchester United 26 2 Luis Suarez Liverpool 21 3 Gareth Bale Tottenham Hotspur 18 3 Miguel Michu Swansea City 18 4 Christian Benteke Aston Villa 17 4 Romelu Lukaku West Bromwich Albion 17 5 Demba Ba Chelsea, Newcastle United 15 6 Edin Dzeko Manchester City 14 6 Frank Lampard Chelsea 14 6 Theo Walcott Arsenal" Top 10 goalscorers, bar 1, are all top 10 teams, guess relying on 1 good goalscorer is the way to go And that bar 1 is the sole reason for Villa survivng.
Another psychogist eh Aussie? I see you've chosen to come and post a comment across here on the free speaking site. About time you kicked off again over on yours isn't it? If you've got nothing to say about the subject matter regarding the two respective football clubs, you'd best stay away. Give us a break to do it with those that want to.
Decent reply swanselona, but listing other teams up there doesn't address the question. The question (obviously yet to be answered) is can a club, any club, rely on a single high scoring player to keep them up? I'm not saying Swansea/Laudrup will take that stance, but last season is not next season - things will need to change for both clubs, yours and ours.
OK, how's this? "The question (obviously yet to be answered) is can a club, any club, rely on a single high scoring player to keep them up" Yes. Check the list again. Not hard really is it?
How many your top scorer net in the chumpionship eh ? 8 is it ? poor show. If Michu didn't play or score the goals he did someone else would have picked up the slack as there is simply too much talent in our current squad not to score, we even got Danny Graham scoring. An out-and-out-striker is something we lacked all season yet we still achieved, 9th in prem, cup success, qualifying for Europe etc.... I'm looking forward to finding out who we'll sign to partner Michu. Currently we are being linked with Kone (not for me) or Aubameyang (my pick) or Lukaku (prob Chelsea next year) or Aspas (don't know what the fuss is about, if he comes great if not who cares). Who you boys looking at to bolster your chances next year? I personally think you have a snowballs chance in hell of staying up. My honest opinion, not a snide wum, is your doomed to fail and you'll be down by Easter
Didn't take it as wum Stumpy, but if said that on your board, it would have been. Don't really know who we'll get - just hope we get an allround squad to compete in the Prem similar to the allround quality we needed to get there.
Spark! I honestly don't understand the logic when an article is interpreted as a wum? This wum thing is bandied about excessively by the swansea clique without explanation. Surely if a thread contains no coments outside the forum rules and the OP only seeks to chat with another board it is not a wum. Could it be that those who are unable to debate in a civilised manner are intent on destroying debate? COMMENT .DEBATE. CREATE freely is the forum moto. Should it be changed for one board?
Maybe you can sign someone who can score you 20 plus goals and you can become a one man team. It took 9 other outfield players to get Michu and the ball into posistion so he could score his 20+ goals. Like I said, taking Michu out of the equation there is sufficient talented in our squad to compensate.
ITIWRAN "I honestly don't understand the logic when an article is interpreted as a wum?" Don't see the logic of this comment mate. I said MY reply was not a wum . I felt I had to qualify that so as not to upset any sensative posters here.
Sorry Stumpy this wasn't in reference to your comment here, it was a generalisation of recent events on your board. Hope that's clear?
