That's another player we need to add to the list of players to buy, if Chech is available and is willing to come to us, we should snatch him up. Shezny had so much promise at the start of his Arsenal career, but he has not progressed much further, he has no presence, and the first goal we conceded against United was partially his fault as well. I know he won the golden hand award last year for most clean sheets? But a lot of that was down to how good our defence was (how things change) rather than down to him being amazing and producing super save after super save. Basically we need surgery to our entire spine, we need a new DMF, proper CB cover, and a world super class GK.
I'd take Cech in January and put him straight in the team. I think it would be the rocket up Szczesny's arse that he needs.
Thing is, if we take Cech, when Ospina comes back we have 3 top keepers. And you're forgetting the amount of times Szczesny has saved us with his fantastic reflexes. He's one of the best shot-stopping goalies in the world. And handling wise, most goalies would struggle to catch a ball when Fellaini has pushed your defender into you.
Szcz wasn't at fault for the goal yesterday, wtf? Fellini pushes Gibbs into him, he was right to come out and he made clean contact with the ball, had Fellini not thrown Gibbs into him it wouldn't have come back into the box. He then struggled to get back up due to being injured.... No idea how he can take any blame there. Let's not forget he was right up amongst the best keepers in the league last season, winning the golden glove and having incredibly shot stopping stats. I think he needs competition for his spot to really excel and his best performances have come when flappy was knocking on the door. Once ospina is fit and given some game time we will see Szcz improve again I think.
I can't see us signing another keeper tbh - we've got two international keepers, one of whom has only just joined the club and the others form is improving consistently and won the Golden Gloves award (jointly with Cech) last season. If we signed Cech then there'd be a ridiculous amount of competition, to unhealthy levels. It gives the option of either selling Ospina - months after he signed for us, selling Szczensy at a time when he'll be coming into his prime - after us sticking by him and developing him for years and years, and then sticking with Cech - who must only have 2-3 seasons max left.
We also need to give the team a collective slap to get them to sort it out! The form of our midfielders is inexcusable as they haven't had that many injuries (except Ozil) and have had plenty of cover but Ramsey, Flamini, Cazorla and Wilshere in particularly being very bad (though Wilshere seems to have picked up recently). At least the defence, which has been awful, has the excuse of losing Kos, Debuchy and even Sagna, and not having enough strength in depth, while the attack has lost Walcott and Giroud. But it's been poor all round!
