Sorry people if this is a duplicate post, but I think it's a very important thing to talk about.

Remember at silverstone with the EBD ho hah and Red Bull really kicking up a fuss to get what they want. Remember they had this "emergency" meeting they had just before the race and by pure chance it was all agreed with Bernie being involved saying it was all done. And with quotes from Ferrari saying they were acting like a bunch of kids etc...

Now what would be the chances that Red Bull threatened to open their mouths that FOTA were to agree to this Sky deal knowing what a ****storm it would of become at silverstone, thousands of fans protesting on their doorstep and a lynch mob to boot calling for Bernies head, ruining the grand prix and having it plastered all over the world news.

"MASS PROTEST AT HOME OF F1"

I'll be away for a few hours but give it a thought because I really thinks that's how red bull got what they wanted for this season.

you know what I was thinking last night this deal may have been done earlier than we think and the weekend of the hungarian GP was the best time to announce it. because:

If it was done at the german GP: angry viewers would be organised ready to boycott the next race at hungary.

If it was done after the hungarian GP: Angry veiwers would brew and brew over the summer break and could turn ugly at the belgian GP.

so as it was done at the Hungarian GP: people were angry but were not organised for a mass boycott. The bbc would also be hoping it would die down after the race before belgium

There's no doubt in my mind that last weekend was chosen as the optimal in terms of minimising hostile reaction. You may well be right about this though I doubt we'll ever find out.

Will we have forgotten come Spa? Apparently there's a Facebook campaign to get Fleetwood Mac's 'The Chain' into the charts for the weekend of the Belgian GP. I love the idea myself: poetic protest. The lyric is especially apt: how convenient!

Listen to the wind blow, watch the sun rise

    Run in the shadows
Damn your love, damn your lies

And if you don't love me now
You will never love me again
I can still hear you saying you would never break the chain
And if you don't love me now
You will never love me again
I can still hear you saying you would never break the chain

Listen to the wind blow, down comes the night

    Run in the shadows
Damn your love, damn your lies

    Break the silence
Damn the dark, damn the light

And if you don't love me now
You will never love me again
I can still hear you saying you would never break the chain
And if you don't love me now
You will never love me again
I can still hear you saying you would never break the chain
And if you don't love me now
You will never love me again
I can still hear you saying you would never break the chain

    Chain...keeps us together

Anything to get him on our side ;)

Yes it's him having a rant about Europe, but they're involving f1 in it and they want numbers so our voice gets heard in Brussels hopefully ;)

That post of yours, Max: - it's absolutely perfect!

I also agree that the timing of the announcement was orchestrated to coincide with the summer break in order to assuage the public outcry which they must surely have anticipated. As for Horner: I don't trust much of what he says anyway but I'd not be surprised if Silver's conjecture is very close to the truth.

I'll just play the guitar solo at the end then.

He, he, unlikely allies, eh? I was wondering the same thing about the, dare I say it?, Daily Mail. They've published the only openly critical article I've yet seen about this deal.

Well the mirror and metro have done articles about the deal, but the Telegraph are having their F1 columns hijacked with people saying "yeah thats great and all etc.. but how can I watch you next year?"

And Sky sports f1 have had the most posts on their site since it opened :p

300+ comments and about 70% of them are negative, also not including the ones they delete that are too offensive ;)

Cheers for that, Silver. So it's not looking quite as bleak as I had thought :)
