I'm not quite sure about this, but I have the feeling that I'm about to call it a day, when it comes to posting on Not606. I've been thinking about it for some time now, but being of an addictive nature, I've had trouble cutting myself free. But I think the time has finally come. There is nothing wrong. I just seem to have walked past the line where enthusiam has been handed out. I can't say that I'll be gone for good, I don't know, but I'll definally be gone for a while. I've made some really great online friends over the years, both from here and the BBC606 site. I won't name names for fear of accidently missing a person who doesn't deserve the omission, and I'll certainly miss their banter. A better bunch of people I've yet to come across online. I'd like to thank you all for the warm manner in which I've been treated, it's been much appreciated. Take it easy you bunch of rough heads. Charlie.
Pillar of the forum you are Cyc. A scribe of the highest intellect and wit, it will be a poorer place in your absence. I would never have even heard of the Birdsville Cup without you my friend Go and sink a few tinnies tonight and you'll be raring to go tomorrow. Cheltenham just around the corner and then Aintree, it's a bad time to quit mate.
No, no, you're a founder member Cyc, please think it over. Have always enjoyed the banter with you; there are very few on here who can hold a candle to you with the written word. (I really didn't mean for you to swim all that way!).
Lol, it's all been a giant con my friends. No really, thanks for the kind words. As I said, I'm not saying I won't return, but for the moment I'm heading for the spelling paddock.
I don't doubt your reasons are good and sufficient, Cyc, and I won't argue with them. That said, I wouldn't want you to leave, but best wishes either way. (Swanhills: I've left you a v.belated PM. Sorry about that).
Oddy: Hear, hear! Well said. (Say, out shopping this a.m. and noticed tabloids getting excited early, and advising Spring is coming: +8°C. expected Tuesday. Will get heat stroke!). Rainer: Got it, many thanks!
I do hope that you do keep one eye on the site Cyc and keep in touch, even if its not through posting... I know your postings will be missed, even your blogs that ive read. You have brought a lot to the cyber-world we live in, and maybe you might just post the odd one from time to time... Your posting of some of the stories you know are one of the great things that is done on here, and for that we are very grateful... Whatever you get up to Cyc i hope you are having a great time... Keep smiling pal, all the best to you... On yer Charlie...
Only just saw this Cyc, and I'll add my regrets to the others. A forum is only as good as it's content and contributors, and your's is right up there with the best. Have a nice break mate - we will welcome you back of course when you are ready
You aren't allowed to resign your post Cyc..EOS! Hope you keep looking in mate and keep firing in the odd post or two...some marathon slogging 'chases coming up! This place will be very much the lesser in your absence. GL.
Cyc, You have a wonderful way with words and to say you have posted some great tales of wisdom on the forum would be an understatement. I know how you feel. The nature of racing is massively addictive. I am here for Cheltenham. I'm not going to pretend I can advise you and what I will say is do whatever makes you happy and healthy. You live in a wonderful country down under and I am sure there is a lot of stuff you can be cracking on with, we all wish we could get the barbie on and nip down to the beach for sure! There comes a point when you accept that racing is what it is- it is corrupt at times, it is unlucky at times, it can be draining at times- and all of a sudden you realise there's more to do than worry about nags on a daily basis. That is why I think the casual punter enjoys it more- they just have an occasional bet for fun. Its when we get engrossed in it that the enthusiasm drains, not to mention bank balance. I will be doing the same as you after Cheltenham. I already look a hypocrite from last year because I felt I was done, but there is too much going on to worry about racing any more. I've followed this NH season so I will enjoy Cheltenham almost as a 'Cup Final', and after that I'll call it quits. Whatever you move on with next, best of luck fella- you always come across an absolute gentleman, which is to be applauded. -TC
Everyone has said absolutely how they feel about you cyc and they are all right. But I understand how you feel. Sometimes you have to walk away for a while. Take care
Take care Cyc. I have enjoyed your contributions very much. The most recent in reference to an online battle that took place well before my time was up to the usual standard even though I'd no idea what you were talking about. I suspect that you'd never been to Wolverhampton though. Even the the most passionate Yam Yam would be surprised to hear the words beautiful and downtown used to describe their city. Very nice all you can eat Chinese restaurant though!
This is sad - I realize I don't post much but I do enjoy reading your contributions Cyc, and it'll be a shame not to continue to do so. The same goes for you too Toppy. All the best gents.
