Hospital streaker left staff and patients stunned

A DRUNKEN streaker left staff and patients at a busy hospital stunned when he stripped off his clothes and began to wander naked around the accident and emergency department.

Frantic nurses tried to urge 40-year-old Dalginder Singh to put his clothes back on as he attempted to enter various examination rooms at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

However, he paid no heed and, eventually, the police had to be summoned to protect his modesty.

The bizarre incident took place after Singh had been taken to the RAH by ambulance just before 1am, having been found in an intoxicated and disoriented state in the Gallowhill area of Paisley.

As soon as he arrived at the accident and emergency unit, he gave staff and other patients an eyeful when he removed his clothing until he was completely naked.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard that, before going to bed Singh was in the habit of stripping off until he was starkers and, during the incident at the RAH, he was looking for somewhere to sleep.

Depute fiscal Claire Martin told the court: âHe was wandering around and was seen by a number of staff and patients.

âTwo nurses asked him repeatedly to put his clothing back on but those requests were ignored and he continued to walk through the department.

âHe attempted to enter a room where other patients were being treated and, when a police officer spoke to him, he paid no heed.â

In court, shamefaced Singh, of Glencoats Drive, Paisley, admitted conducting himself in a disorderly manner at the RAH on November 3 last year, attempting to enter treatment rooms and refusing to dress when asked to do so, committing a breach of the peace.

It was stated that when police arrived at the RAH, Singh was found lying naked on the floor, as if he had gone to sleep.

He was placed in a treatment room, where further efforts were made to get him to dress, but he still refused to and was arrested.

Defence agent Michael McKeown said that despite living here with his partner for 20 years, Singh â who required an interpreter in court â had difficulty with the English language.

He added that, due to his drunken condition on the night in question, Singh had absolutely no recollection of events.

Mr McKeown said: âHe accepts that, on occasions, he consumes too much alcohol. This experience has caused him to re-evaluate his behaviour and he has vastly reduced his intake.

âHe has no recollection of being there and was quite distressed when advised what had happened.

âWhen heâs going to bed, he takes his clothes off. It is clear there was a fair level of disorientation during this episode.â

Sheriff Paul Crozier said that, as there seemed to be underlying issues, he wished to consider putting a Community Payback Order, with an element of supervision, in place.

He deferred sentence until Tuesday, March 27, so that a supplementary report could be completed.

If it's the guy I think it was, he would've been full of cheap pills.

If you're gonna streak at the hospital, I would suggest not taking pills laced with speed before doing it.
