With the players we have, I think this would be our best formation, especially at home. Tunchev has been playing well at Palace, so let's get him in our starting 11 when he arrives back. ( although does anyone know why he didn't play on Saturday?) I think Konchesky and Peltier are good enough to fill the wing back positions. How about. Schmeichel Peltier Bamba Mills Tunchev Konchesky Wellens Fernandes/Johnson Danns Beckford Nugent King does not warrant a place in the team as he is anonymous for the majority of the game, even more so when we go 1 down. Gallagher is a luxury and again, he is fine when things are going well for us. Abe is either very steady or poor. Vassell is better coming on from the bench. Dyer, the same as Vassell. What are your thoughts on 3-5-2?
For me Konchesky doesnt have the pace to play that formation. If we had some decent centre halfs last season it would of worked great with Naughton and Van Aanholt. I say ditch the diamond and play either 4-1-3-2 with a defensive midfielder sitting back or 4-3-1-2 with an attacking midfielder going forward. Maybe Andy King would be better in that role and tell him dont worry about defending at all just get up and try and get in the box
never thought id say this, but 4-3-3 i think will turn good with the players we have. Kasper Peltier Mills Bamba Konchesky Fernandes Wellens Johnson Gallagher Beckford Nugent.
Surely he will just get moaned at, and being called a **** manager if he changes his formation again ... i can hear the complaints on 104.9 now ...
I think it might be worth considering going 4-3-3, especially against teams who set up like Millwall did. There was a distinct lack of width in our performance and 4-3-3 will stretch the pitch and consequently the opposition, giving us more space to play. It worked last season and we dispatched most of the teams below us with relative ease. It was the games against the top sides that cost us and that wasn't to do with the system, just the players not being good enough.
