Think it would be a good move by Levy to get AVB, I know its nothing to do with us (Sunderland) but from a fan of football in general I dont think people should judge AVB on just his reign as Chelsea manager. IMO the bloke was the wrong choice for Chelsea, you watched his Porto team and how he had them playing and they played some fantastic football but at Chelsea he did not have the players to play the same way as he had to change his style after 3 or 4games, it would be like Wenger going to Stoke and from game 1 wanting them to play like his Arsenal team does. His other downfall was trying to get the old guard out as soon as he could to build a side like his Porto team and in the end going against the likes of Terry, Lampard etc. cost him his job. At Spurs I think it will be totally different as they are similar in ways to his Porto side. IMO if he does get the job and is allowed to bring in 3 or 4 players that he wants as well as time he could be fantastic for the club. Another point is there won't be the same problem with players forcing him out as Spurs don't seem to have a (off the field I am on about) Terry or a Lampard. Think he or whoever gets the job will want shot of the likes of Pienaar and Bassong who could both do well for us.
Inclined to agree, not least because I think it will help them keep Modric & Bale, if that's still possible.
If AVB comes in and you are right think he will get Moutinho to come in as Modric's replacement in the middle
Just got a canny lump sum of the old oil tycoon, if he takes another club in London he's a mug. Plus reckon he'll get offered a job at a better club the Spurs.
Where's Bale gonna though? Logically I think A.Johnson to Spurs and Bale to City plus a boat load of cash is the best deal. Would prefer him to sign for Man Utd as he's the natural successor to Giggs. I dont know about others but I think Modric is massively overrated and they'd be laughing if someone comes in and pays 30-40 mill. They need two strikers so if they can bring in Adebayor for 15-20m then pick a partner for him they'll be a better team.
If he does get it then poetic justice is done. Arry comments when AVB got sacked included some thing like "a Chairman is entitled to some return for the money he gives a manager".
