I remember watching Bangor City play Wigan Ath at Farrow Rd when they were both in the Northern Premiership league. There were the usual 300-400 in the crowd and although it was âfootball in the roughâ it was a very enjoyable and ENTERTAINING game. Now they are to play at Wembley in the FA Cup Final. I call that phenomenal progress. Wigan Athletic were founder members of the Northern Premier League, known since 1994 as the UniBond League. Winning the league title in 1970â71, Leading goalscorer with 42 goals, including 7 hat-tricks, was Geoff Davies who scored 28 goals in the following 1971â72 season. After 34 failed election attempts, including one controversial but headline-making application in 1972 to join the Scottish League Second Division, Wigan Athletic were elected to the Football League in 1978.
WELL done Wigan Moe It's a Rugby town always has been. And I for one hope the win the cup.. At least they will "Have a go at Citeh" looking forward to it. On a side note, let's hope and pray the wheels come off and their league form goes out the window. Wishful thinking? Yup I'm at that stage now Moe.. where we need a miracle or SIX PTS... let's hope for a miracle then eh!
Moe, see my post which caused RTP to fire off some silly posts and then flounce. You are 100% correct
