I really like Leon Best

Saw an interview with him on some Premier League Preview thing last night and the guy seems really down to earth, keeping his feet on the ground and really seems to love playing for us. Was praising the fans big time as well.

I've criticised him in the past but I can never fault the guy's work rate or effort; he may not be the most talented in our squad but he always puts in 100% and that's good enough for me.

Really hope he gets a goal today (nothing to do with me having a flutter on him or anything though. Ahem)

 

Aye, saw it mesel. Never heard any thing from him before so it was nice to see him speaking on camera. The words about the fans were nice and he is certainly enjoying his football. As like you i criticized him a lot, but he never really was given the chance. He has that now and he is scoring the goals and hopefully he carries on putting the ball in the back of the net.

Best hat trick today . . . . Hope so

 

Someone's got a bit of a man crush.

 

I find him really annoying, especially the amount of times he gets himself caught offside. Done well so far though and I hope he keeps it up.

 

Best current striker. That's how much I rate him. Looked very average at Championship level but looks decent enough in the Premier League. Yes, he's not the most gifted of players but you simply can't deny his work-rate, effort and attitude, he could've easily gone back to Coventry or a mid-table Championship side back in the summer or in Jan if he wished so, but he's knocked on the manager's door and proved he's good enough to play at this level. Still think we need 1 or 2 quality strikers to take us to those beloved European spots.

 

Yep, that gets right on my tits. Such a silly thing that he could easily get out of his game as well.

 

He couldn't possibly go offside more than Martins did ? Surely !

 

That's true, but on the odd occasion he can break the offside trap?

I never really thought much of him before West Ham game if I'm honest. Was a bit shocked and maybe a tad disgruntled at his start at West Ham I suppose.
Since then though, seen him as a top guy and a vital team player. He isn't the best, but he's the best we've got. Glad he's a Newcastle player, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

More of Ranger fan still though I think.
To be honest guys. The name's 'Best' and 'Ranger' are far superior to 'Carroll'. Much more manly. Leon is the BEST. Nile is a lone Ranger. What was Andy? A ****ing Countdown co-host?

 

Do you think there has EVER been a game in which he's played for a reasonable amount of time that he hasn't been offside in?

 

Yes.. obviously you haven't seen him back in his ''better days'' aka.. 2001-2002/2002-2003/2003-2004.
