It was written as an ode to their friend and QPR fan Pete Doherty. I once saw Pete's band Babyshambles wearing a Rangers shirt and he called me over just before the show and drew me a quick signed self-portrait. I later saw the Libertines and he had an Rs flag up - and QPR chants were abundant - at the end of the gig. Good memories.
I've seen Pete quite a few times, solo, Babyshambles and his newest venture with the Puta Madres. Always excellent, really hypes the crowd up. Seen the QPR flag up on a couple of occassions, but Glasgow sometimes isn't the best city for displaying your club loyalties....
Lol. Yeah I saw the Libs at Ally Pally. I guess Shepherd's Bush Empire would have been more appropriate but still.
