I have followed Wycombe since 1973 and have come to the conclusion that i prefered watching in the 70's and 80's when football was a mans game and Wycombe won so many trophies. It's not just the winning but the mixing with opposing fans for a beer before and after a game(except Enfield) and drinking with the players in the clubhouse after the final whistle.Keith Mead,John Maskell and Paul Birdseye were happy to have a pint with fans.
I know we strived to get into The Football League for years but what with our current problems i often wonder was it worth it?Perhaps my old mind sees things differant than they really were but it's just my own opinion and no doubt i'll get some stick for this post but so be it,it's what i think!

I thoroughly enjoyed being a Wycombe supporter from the early 1950s right up until Martin O'Neil left.

I was sickened by the likes of Alan Smith, John Gregory and Tony Adams.

The FA cup run was something else.

The League cup run, particularly the games against Chelsea, was a highlight as was last season's promotion.

Although the score looks like a thrashing, I was particularly proud to be a Wycombe fan when I took Amanda to Adams Park (before moving to France) to watch the game against Aston Villa. The place was buzzing with the quality of football Wycombe played. Wycombe completely outplayed Villa for the fist half and went in 3-1 to the good at half time. They continued their superiority for at least 15 mins of the second half and Villa fans were leaving in droves at the humiliation. Then a series of unfortunate incidents, including losing our top goal scorer, ended in giving away 5 goals in the last 20 mins (breakaways and a penalty). I felt so sorry for them as the did not deserve that scoreline.

The most exciting and stressful game of all, that had absolutely everything, was our replay away to Wimbledon in the FA Cup. Incredible.

Blimey,i expected the first reply to give me a load of stick for my views as an old supporter of the club i've supported for so long so i was pleased to read your view.I will not give up my club but i'm getting somewhat p****d off with what's going on from the owner down to the manager who if it wasn't for his poor buys and tactics we wouldn't be in the position we are in now.
One final question, why does Strevens keep being picked?

blimey i thought me and ron were the oldest blues fans on here, mowgli well done mate you have made me feel young again <cheers>,only joking ,i started watching the wanderers some 26 years ago after moving into the area from hayes middx.i have some great memories of the blues ,especially the play off final against preston, and in my eyes wycombes greatest ever goal scored by jesus after that mazy run and shot off the post.my fave game was the incredible fa cup tie at selhurst park against wimbledon, that had everything and i dont think i will ever see a game like that ever again.the liverpool game at villa park came close though.

I was at the Villa Park game Rocky. It was a bold effort and I thoroughly enjoyed it but it was nowhere near as tense and exciting as the Wimbledon game - and I was listening to it on the radio. If I had to put them in order I would say:
    1. Wimbledon v Wycombe (FA cup replay at Selhurst Park)
    2. Wycombe v Preston (Play off final at Wembley)
    3. Wycombe v Corinthian Casuals (Amateur Cup semi final at Highbury)
