    Joey has just tweeted
"We are off to Goodson tonight for the FA cup 3rd round against Everton my boyhood club!!

It's a living dream every time I play there and I'm especially looking forward to this one!!!"

So if Harry drops him (as he should for this one, to protect him for the league), he will be in a sulk, and we have a problem!
If he plays, he will get all "puffed-up", a yellow or red card certainty....

so we have a problem....what should Harry do!

Joey might just be the difference to help us get a result, I wouldn't write this one off just yet...

He is on 9 bookings now for the season 1 more and he will get another ban? so do we play him he gets booked and we lose him for Ipswich away or rest him so he can play that one and miss Huddersfield? Because I can't see him going more than 2 games with out a booking.

Predicting a problem with Barton doesn't quite qualify you for seer status Beth.

i thought that all bookings were wiped clean at start of New Year so maybe JB will be ok.
Personally, i would play him. If he is up against his boyhood team then surely he will want to play his best and not act the idiot which he can sometimes do. Also, if he is considering his career options, then maybe a good performance from him might get him a move to a premiership side

If he gets to ten bookings it's a two match ban...

He's a grown adult & apparently a professional, he'll do what he's told & what's right for the club that pays his wages!

There is definitely a time when the bookings get wiped, but not sure it is at the turn of the year. I seem to remember its March sometime?

Can't be bothered to look but wasn't he rested against Sunderland away 2 years ago from memory to prevent the 10 bookings. I thought new year too.

Am I the only person who can't be bothered with this competition? After all what's at stake. For the winne.r the ignominy of a live performance captured by ITV's cameras to provides the opportunity for an advertising fest in front of a few million souls who still buy into the "magic and romance of the Cup". When my team actually shows some interest in Cup games then perhaps I will too. Whatever may be said by our players and manager, under orders from the Club to put bums on seats, I will be very surprised if they do anything more than treat it as a practice game. I would like to see Hitchcock and a few other fringe players get a game. Under no circumstances can we take the chance of playing Austin, Johnson. Barton, Onuoha, Green or Phillips for the game against Everton's second XI. Wake me up when it's all over.

Simple solution surely. Give Barton 45 mins to make an impact and ensure that he doesn't get a booking and tell him in advance that he will be rested for the second half. I suspect his replacement will be Henry who is not the same type of player when attacking.

I grew up with the Romance of the CUP. I enjoyed the days out at Wembley vs Spurs and the cup run.

I hate it that everyone now plays their second team in the early rounds.

It is a real example of where money has killed off romance and what football should be all about. Not to get too political ...it is an example of where society has gone wrong and lost values - anyway,,,,

If we could find a way to fine clubs back into taking this seriously - then I would vote for it.

Me too. I expect Arry feels the same, and I won't be surprised if despite what he's said we don't really give it a go tomorrow. We got a few like Cesar, Scousers Clint and Joey, SWP, Kransjcar, AJ, BAE, Traore and Yossy who all should have good reasons for giving it all up there.
