a big fat apology i have had a bit of a go at the pulis haters on here recently, how on earth can he justify whitehead at left back, charlie adam once again played out of position, starting with crouch it goes on and on the bloke as lost the plot and perhaps i have had rose tinted specs on where so please accept my sincere apology. He needs to go otherwise we will be lucky to stay up this season! yes we only need another 9/10 points but where will they come from.

Rotter fair play mate, we all have differing opinions mucker otherwise we would all be the same. I've done my best this season to try not to slate TP as I was inspired by our Summer signings and great start to the season. I thought we were witnessing the start of that 10 year plan he promised us that went from the original 3 year plan. I know there are still a few on not 606 that think we should give TP the benefit of the doubt and fair play to them too. My own personal opinion is that he 100% does not have a clue on how to win a game of football. He only knows on how not to lose a game and try to snatch something in the meantime. Pulis's mind set is pre game we have a point, now let's get out there and try not to lose that point. I know we are not Barcelona and I know with the players we have we are not going to be playing the tippy tappy or carpet football that other teams play. But I do believe that the players we have and had, we should be playing at another level than what we already are. Pulis is vindictive and stuck in a rut as he only knows one certain way in which to play. How many times do we see him trying something new? He has run his course I'm afraid and I think it was last season that people started to find him out. We need someone new at the helm now that can push this club forward.

You need to be realistic here.

You are 10th and always finish about mid-table. Where exactly are you going to push on too?

We're hoping we can finish 10th this season, previous yeas we've been close and then had a poor end to the season.
I don't have quite the same view as Waddo and others on here, but Pulis is extremely frustrating, for example when Charlie Adam was on compassionate leave, we played 442 and looked pretty good, Adam comes back and we revert back to 451, so we can force Adam and Walters into the same team, and only having one striker playing. The worst of it is, (aside from fullbacks) we've got a good squad, and show our potential now and then, but eventually end up having about 4 or 5 good games a season and the rest are the same old negative rubbish.
Although saying that, in our last 2 games, the players haven't really looked up for it, so it's not just Pulis to blame.

Rotter- re Whitehead, I don't think there was anything else that could be done there, Wilson, Wilko and Shotton were all out. But that doesn't change the fact we should have proper fullbacks by now, before anyone else says it!

Always been my issue mate this season, forcing Adam and Walters into a set up that doesnt work, I said it from day one.

I think it may be a case of looking after our "promotion" players again, because (to me) the most obvious solution is to drop Whelan.
I don't even mind Walters playing on the right, if we've got 2 playing upfront.

I dont think anyone generally has an issue with our position, our 1st season returned us 12th place on 45 points and -17GD and 11 points above relegation, last season (4 years on and 80 million quid) we finished 14th on 45 points and -17GD and 9 points above relegation.

The issue "some"have is that we feel that with the squad we now have we could do better, not top 6 better, just better. People will view better in different ways, for instance I would view it as finishing 10th (ish) on about 50 points, scoring more goals and finshing the season on a neutral goal difference. I dont think many fans are unreasonable in our expectations, but we expect the team to at least compete in our matches and not just ones that TP feels he can get something from. As a fan (and unless you have watched them over a decent period of time) the frustration is that in our heart of hearts, we know we are capable of very bad runs and are not too good to go down.

Mate, your opinion is just as valued as everyone elses on here, its a forum for dicussion of opinion - there is no right and wrong - only reasoned debate, hopefully!

Fair play no need to apologise. I said end of last season.. "If Pulis does not change things" or " HE starts to be more positve I would not buy another season ticket until he's gone. Well, I did and we did start well, given the fixtures to start the season off. I think? all of us have seen this for the last two seasons. Same old same tactics away from home. We even had a go at O/T I know we still lost but we did have a go and our fans we're happy enough with that.
Went onto the Swansea board last night and wished them all the best vs Chelsea. One fan asked me "Why don't you play like you do at home, if you did you would be higher in the table in his oppinion" Well, if another fan can see it, we can see it. Surly it's time for Pulis to move over end of this season? What gauls me is that I'm almost certain we'll stay up so what does Mr Coates do? Pundits say "Pulis has worked wonders since promotion etc" Well I don't think so and I am not alone in thinking that.

In answer to the Sunderland fan the answer is simple enough. We don't want to finish top six, it's never going to happen. BUT we should be playing more football than we do away from home simples. It's negative and I feel sorry for the loyal fans who always travel to away games. I hear that Adam was useless on Saturday? Yeah because Pulis plays him too deep IMO. Walters plays every week. Jerome hardly ever starts, same with Jones until recently. Steve Bruce could not fool your fans for too long, nor your Chairman and he was gone. Say's everything when Nigel Adkins is out of work having done little or nothing wrong. But Pulis will be here as long as our Chairman wants him here, NOT the Stoke fans. The sooner he goes the happier I will be, sadly he won't be leaving anytime soon.

I think your right, although there is an aregument to say Walters is also a championship player - but thats a different debate.

Adam should playing deeper in central Midfield, but he needs pace on the wings and upfront so he can spray passes and stretch defences. Although Walters ahs done a Reasonable job when on the wing, he doesnt offer us the natural width and pace you need from that position and his final ball is generally not good enough for the front men to get anything off.

Having said that I would settle for a 4-4-2 with Adam and Nzonzi in the middle, Walters on the right and Jerome upfront. My prefrence (as stated on previous threads) is a 4-1-3-2 with Nzonzi as the holding midfielder, Adam in the middle with a combination of Pennant/Ethrington/Kightly or at a push Walters filling in the wide positions and KJ/Crouch with Jerome upfront.

    I saw today that we were 4th bottom of the form league;

    16th - Norwich 7 points
    17th - Stoke - 7 points
    18th - Villa - 6 points
    19th - Wigan - 5 points
    20th - Newcastle - 4 points

    Smithers,

I'm surprised we are that high, how dire are the rest of them playing, still a couple of good results and I think people will be a lot happier.
