has failed to peform so far in this summer's Copa America (similar to his World Cup capaign). Do you think Messi's continuing failure to perform for his country harms his reputation as being better than a combination of Pele, Maradona and the Son of God? Afterall players like Pele and Maradona helped drage their countries to victory despite playing in weaker teams than this current Argentina side.
Maybe you would prefer yet another article speculating on who we might be signing, or maybe I should consult yourself before I write any article so that it is 100% to your liking. Miserable git. Here's an idea: If you don't like an article try ignoring it instead of ****ing moaning.
Why on earth would any of us want yet another ****ing article on Lionel Messi which is designed to flare up the Ronaldo v Messi argument all over again? It's been done to death just like the "transfer speculation" threads you moaned about. Don't claim otherwise because I'm not stupid, you're looking for another petty argument. Messi is a fantastic player, probably the best in the world by the opinion of 99% of football fans in the world. Stop crying and accept it.
I think it is more because Argentina's manager is useless, their defence is weak and the midfield has little creativity. Things only start happening when Aguero comes on
He needs good players around him for him to perform, that's why he is not at the level of Pele and Maradona like some ridiculously claim.
The team is built around him at Barca and he is playing with better players, this helps a lot. That does not mean that he is any less special, just that Argentina are not a great team and were managed by a cabbage at the last WC.Plus International Football is a lot more rigid and tactical than club Football, since the players dont have that long to get used to each others strengths and weaknesses as they do at club level, therefore tactics become much more important(see Maradonnas Argentina 2010). I cant recall Pele playing in a poor Brazil side? And Maradonna`s Argentina of `86 were nowhere near as bad as some would say, they were certainly a lot better defensively than the current group. Messi has already proved his ability at the highest level, the Champions league. He has been the stand out player in the strongest competition in World Football for the past 3 seasons.(edit last 3 out of 4 seasons, Sneijder was immense 2010)
The only one causing an argument here is YOU. Idiot You could have ignored this article if you have a problem with it, you could have tried to have a sensible discussion like the other people on here, but instead you're causing an argument and moaning that I am just trying to cause an argument with this article. Good one
His poor form for Argentina show that he is not at the level of Maradona or Pele. People overhype him and try to make him out to be the best player ever but until he repeats his Barcelona performances at international level he should not be mentioned along side those other two.
Berb... who the **** said he was a better player than a combination of Pele and Maradona? Absolute rubbish.
Some people rate him as high, or even higher than Pele and Maradona. I exaggerated slightly for affect by saying that he has a reputation of being better than a combination of Pele, Maradona and the Son of God, because some people carry on like he's the saviour of all mankind and as if we should all bow down before his greatness.
Well ive never come across anyone who knows about football that does. Yeah he has the potential to be, but comparing someone so young to those two greats is absolutely ridiculous.
Which is the exact point of this article Obviosuly he's a very good player but the way some people go on about him is so OTT.
I dont agree with that at all.Its a team game and Argentina are very average in goal, defence and midfield, their forwards are frightening but every good team is built on solid foundations. So Pele, who played in the best International side of that era(possibly all-time) and played all of his career in **** leagues must be better?IMO Pele is extremely overrated, he wasnt even the best player in Brazil in his time.
Also, i believe the reason behind his international form is mainly due to not having as much of a free role as he does for Barca, and also not having Xavi and Iniesta right behind him. Even i would be good if them two played behind me
