Not just because we were doing better - but the overall entertainment the prem provided in 01-02 was amazing. There was a small period of time where, feasibly, 5 teams could have won the league (United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle and Leeds). Nowadays, it's hard to think that anyone but Man City will run away with it. Football was just nicer then. European leagues used to be INTERESTING! I used to follow la liga and seria A with interest, in the days when Valencia and Deportivo could win the spanish title etc it was just so much better to watch. FIFA 02 was the boss as well - the days where you had to go to your mates house to play, there was no 'online'. These neutrinos better ****ing hurry up. I'm travelling back ASAP.
City are running away with it this season but when FFP comes into play it should get better; City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool will all be competing, wouldn't have got any of those 5 teams mentioned giving the other one a beating 10 years ago would you!
It was a glorious time! We were that good, it usually was only a matter of time before we would have the ball in the back of the net and it was usually a cracker too! I would say though that although Man City are clear favourites, when you set them aside, all the positions below them going down to seventh are up for grabs!
10 years ago my friends we were right in the thick of the hunt. Who would have ever believed that we now chase 4th place at best? I think if you suggested that to Messrs Bergkamp, Henry, Pires or Vieira, they be laughing at you. It's good to have memories.
Current theory is, simplified, that you can only travel back in time to the point of which you've turned on your time machine; like creating a funnel which you can send things back through. So we'd turn our time machine on, and from that point begin receiving things sent back from the future, but only up to the point we turned the machine on. SCIENCE IS SEXY.
This article makes no sense. 10 years ago the Prem was all Arsenal and United. Now Man City, United, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal all could do it. Also the teams between 5-10th are far stronger than they were back then. We were better yes, the league was NOT.
We were 10 years younger, I had no grey hair and England had just beaten the Germans 5-1 in their own back yard, I'm with the OP.....
