I have just got in from a few celebratory drinks, and I am in need of a rant to the lads on not606.

I am watching the match back on FootballFirst now and I am sick of all the treatment of Joey Barton.

His challenge was no where near as bad as De Jong's, yet it has been compared to that challenge by some Arsenal fans. ****ing bollocks man, he won the ball, never left the ground, he only went for the ball, he put his foot in and took it away, he never kept going with it like De Jong did, he never swung his second leg like De Jong did. It was just the position of Diaby's leg. But for him to react like that, he deserved to be sent off.

Joey Barton gets so much stick, but he just keeps his head down and gets on with it, and imo has been our best player this season, if it wasn't for him, Carroll wouldn't have 7 of his goals.

Barton, I believe, has come to love this club and us as fans as we have stuck by him through the rough times, and he is repaying us with sensational performances on the pitch.

As a footballer, Barton is a smart lad, he knows what he is doing on the pitch, adding 2 goals to his season tally which was 1(?).

He gets so much stick for any challenge he commits, even when he was won the ball clearly, like today.

Kepp it up Joey, hundreds of thousands of Newcastle fans are right behind you!

  2. He clearly went for the ball with a one footed tackle, and his follow through took out Diaby. It was a fowl, but there was no malice in the challenge and wasn't even worth a yellow.

His goals tally is now 4 with those two pens.

    What i want now -

    Barton sign a new contract

Tiote extends contract to 5.5 years

Enrique to sign a new contract.

Colo and Jonas to do so n'all.

Agree with all the above. Barton has been tremendous and you can tell his heart is in everything he does.

    I love Joey Barton,
    I love Colo too,
I love Jose Enrique, but Tiote I adore you.

Don't get jealous all you other guys, I think the same about all of you, this was just something to rhyme.

the tackle mis-timed could of been bad but it wasnt, he won the ball clearly and his back leg caught diaby...

i have to admit seeing bartons reaction suprised me, he just looked at the ref stood up and walked off......barton of a few tears back would of jumped up and had a right go at diaby...

Leazes i don't even think it was a foul. It was a fifty fifty ball that was there to be won. He took the ball cleanly, didn't jump in and didn't show his studs. His momentum took him into a clash with another player whose momentum also took him into Barton. Why is Diaby not blamed for arriving late into the challenge and colliding with Barton after Barton had cleanly won the ball? If anything it was a foul by Diaby.

As for Barton's determination and will to win. Any one else notice when late in the first half, four nil down, he sprinted to retrieve the ball when we had just been awarded a goal kick rather than leave it to Harper, who was further away, to collect? He didn't have to wait for a half time rollicking to show his determination to get back into the game. Barton was the man yesterday. What a hero!!!
