I look at how much better we are and how much more defensive we are. It looks like SoD has put some confidence back in the team and we seem to be playing as one

Then on the other hand I don't want to get carried away just because we've won 2 games at home. We tore Palace and Cardiff apart earlier in the season and then we went downhill and bloody fast who's to say it doesn't happen again? I wont be getting carried away just because we have won 2 games we could now quite easily get beat by Blackburn and all the confidence we built up will be threw out the window. Although I would feel a lot more confident if we got another CB in fonts was ok last night but there was a few times he got beat way to easy and if it wasn't for carey (CITY GOD) putting in 2 shifts yesterday it might have been a cricket score.

Another striker now seems a must as if like yesterday Davies and Baldock couldn't score we don't want to really rely on Stead. Baldock should of buried his chance last night still amazed now how he missed.

So overall lets not get carried away because we've won twice but I feel better than I did 6 points ago that's for sure.

heard most of the commentary going up the M5, but it did seem quite a game maybe I should go to birmingham every time we play...!

Fonts did seem a bit "iffy" at times as you get a good impression from the instant reaction of the commentator...Cunningham seemed to be the out and out player of the first half followed by Daves ...moloney did not get a mention and kelly was mentioned once...I was trying to work ou tthe team as I missed it being given out.so played particular attention as each was mentioned...misse the 2nd half and only found out moloney played this am

Moloney had yet again another solid game and has showed foster right up. I'm a lot more confident watching him than I am Foster. Cunningham was brilliant and getting back to he was before his injury only to get a knock late on. Reminded me of the Peterborough away game. Lose Skuse then lose Cunningham later <doh> they like injuring these 2 in the same game

Great result but we are right not to get carried away....been there done that before.

If we continue to play the right way and get some more points on the board over the next 5 to 8 games then we might have a genuine chance of avoiding the drop.

There are some big games coming between now and the end of the season, especially at home where we still have to play the likes of Barnsley, Birmingham, Sheff Wed, Bolton and Huddersfield, but we also have some tough away games at Wolves, Cardiff, Hull, Palarse, Derby etc.

Championship status is still ours to win or lose so it's down to the players as to how much they want it from now on

One things for sure, we have the right man to tell the players not to get too ahead of themselves.

JGF Kelly might not of got mentioned a lot on the radio probably because he gets it and releases the ball quickly. He has to me grown every game, I could not see in the second half from where I was but I think it was him that went on a mazy run through a few of their players.
Maloney as Shiny says is better than Foster and IMO Foster ain't as bad as some claim. Maloney is more solid in defence.

Delighted with the result and more importantly the clean sheet, but IMO Zola cocked up and lost the game himself rather than we won it.
He approached this like Watford had already won. He rested his big guns and got stung.
If they had played from the start things may have been different. Ok you could also argue that they should have had a player sent off - swings and roundabouts I suppose.
Whatever, we won't know how much we have stabilised until we play against a full strength side and beat them.

I saw this comment from OTIB, this is also my opinion of Kelly <ok>

"Firstly, since this thread is titled Liam Kelly, I would like to say that I have been very impressed so far.* He has offered a completely different dynamic to our previously stagnant midfield.* He chases all day, he harries the opposition, he tracks his runners, he provides a shield for the centre-backs, he has a decent quality on the ball and has shown he can offer a goal threat judging by the number of shooting opportunities he's found himself in, in just 4 games.
I must admit, I thought the lad was signed as a bit of a runner, a box to box type who would provide energy and willing and run all day.* Well he has certainly proven to me that he will provide those characteristics, but he's also shown he can play a bit too, and is a real thinker on the pitch.* SoD has called upon players to do their job and help their mates - well Kelly is certainly doing this and I am confident he will be an excellent player for this club in the long term (yes it's early days, but the characteristics are there)."

On the subject of Kelly, half way through the 2nd half he tried to play a through ball to Sam Baldock - it was JUST cut out but I remember thinking to myself that is the first ball of that description that I have seen from our team in a VERY LONG TIME. I think he will only get better as he settles in.

As for Maloney, in view of the position we find ourselves in, his overwhelming prioroty is to stop the opposition forwards and us conceding goals and we have let in 1 in the 2 games he has played. I would however say that his attacking qualities were seen when he went on that maurauding run from one box to the other against Ipswich and frankly, I can't wait to see him team up with Albert as he will overlap all day...

To add a couple of other points, I thought that:-

a). Marv was superb, sat in midfield and ran down anything that came his way - in fact, almost back to the Marv we first signed
b). Anderson is what we have been missing for years. Can't remember who it was but we broke out of defence 2nd half and who was it busting a gut to race into the box (for the ball that never came). Again, this is something we haven't seen for years, admittedly mainly because we haven't played that way.

Finally, a word on Fontaine - absolutely dreadful for the first half an hour making 3 absolute howlers that could have cost us the game before half time HOWEVER, I would say that he improved considerably 2nd half but this is stil no consolation if we had been 3 down (as we probably should have been) so still the weakest link for me...

I find it rather ironic that the first signing both McInnes and O'Driscoll made when they arrived is a right back.
I do not have any complaints about either signing.

Moloney is apparently doing a good job so far. I note the comment elsewhere that he looks good going forward yet his priority is defence.

Yet while I would say I'm not madly in love with Foster, what is different apart from about 4 inches less than Moloney?

He's a reasonable defender, but I've lost count of the times he is seen supporting Albert, crossing from near opposition penalty area and getting shots at goal.

And yet neither DMc or SOD have brought in any central defenders which is our glaring weakness. Admittedly SOD has had less time by a long way compared with his predeccessor but thousands of us know where the weakness in our team lies.

As others have posted and clear from the video, we lost a goal against Ipswich with his mistake and could have given away 2 or 3 goals against both Ipswich and Watford before we scored.

So while enjoying the heady days of two consecutive wins for which I and every other City supporter is very grateful, lets not all forget what we really need to get out of the mess!

Totally with you on this Cider.
Also, how grand to see a proper midfielder at AG again, best since Hartley only with his whole career in front of him, I can see good things for Kelly. Having him bustling in front of our defence is one reason why we have 6 points from 2 games.

Also, how nice to be talking positively once more about the football and not having to troll through buckets of hate mail directed at our manager (you know the guy who signed Kelly)
