i really hope Pompey get 10 points deducted, just for our survival we meet them next month and it could be a 6 pointer, also hearing they could fold all together, what would that mean only 2 clubs get relegated ?

I'm surprised it would only be 10 points, 2 admins in two years?

I cant wish it on them though I quite like the Pompey fans I have met.. (mostly because their not saints) but this is getting out of hand.

Personally, I would wish no clubs were relegated because they were hard up, and I certainly wouldn't wish to see a single league club go out of existence.
I would actually rather see us relegated than a great club like Pompey close, and I am certainly no Portsmouth fan.

If we cant stay in the division because we are good enough, then thats our own lookout. For the future of English football is built on clubs like Portsmouth, and when they start to go out of business we could be next.

You dont remember 1982 Shiny. You would not want to experience it

It's official. Pompey In admin. HMRC apparently say it could be a 20 point deduction for going into administration twice in quick succession.

While I agree entirely with BRR about not wanting to see teams in admin, they brought in Kitson, Benjani, Sonko, Lawrence, Huselkupp etc right after coming out of admin last time. I know a lot must be down to the owners but seriously they'd have known the finances so why did they bring them in on presumably big wages?

Think they owe us money as well. Sorry, tough on Pompey fans but they were more than happy to watch players they couldn't afford.

Where would Pompey be in the league without these players ?

Sorry again but no sympathy.

Spot on Redprintt, feel sorry for the fans but not the running of the club...........all the businesses that will suffer by not being paid for their services.
All the points gainned by Portsmouth with players they could not afford should be docked......

Perhaps the most cowardly thread I have ever come across!
"We're crap, hopefully someone folds so we don't go down."

Shiny never said he hopes you fold!!
He asked what happens if you do, and says that when we meet it will be a 6 pointer!
I think you done the correct thing this time taking the hit early whilst you have a chance of staying up!
Also in this thread we have said we feel sorry for the fans of pompey

HistoryRepeating is a Saints fan - and that posting is the nearest he has ever come to being nice to us <ok>

At the end of all this crap is the merest hint that we, the supporters, could end up with some influence over how the club is run. Bills would be paid if we had any say at all and we would run within our means.

Thanks for the words of support as well.

I don't think you can blame the club, promises were obviously made re financing by the new owner who, as can be seen from the BBC article under, turned out to be less than spotlessly clean (allegedly).

Seems to me that the real root of the problem is Chainrai just flogging the club to the first bloke who offered to give him his money back without really caring who it was, also sounds like the football league didn't really cover themselves in glory in this respect either...

Thank goodness for Sir Lansdown...!

In October 2010, Balram Chainrai became a self-confessed reluctant owner - he had loaned the club around £17m the year before - and taken Fratton Park as security. Protecting that investment was his priority, but South Today asked him at the time if he was the right owner. "Me, the right owner? No. But I know the right owner is out there and we're going to find him," said Chainrai.

He did eventually find new owners - Convers Sports Initiatives - who agreed a deal to buy the club in the summer of 2011. The company owned several sports franchises, but Pompey was their first foray into football ownership. Their main financial backer was Russian Vladimir Antonov. He passed the Football League's owners and directors test, formerly known as the 'fit and proper person's test'.

But Antonov's banking business had been the subject of scrutiny by the Financial Services Authority - who had refused to grant Snoras Bank a licence to operate in the UK. He had also been accused of money laundering but has always denied the allegations.

“Our main goal is to give supporters confidence that we are stable owners and that we have the passion and money to support the club's long-term vision” Vladimir Antonov speaking in September 2011

When South Today asked him about these matters in September last year, Antonov mounted a stern defence of both his activities and those of his Lithuanian-based bank. "We are just business people," said Antonov. "Those allegations were false and we have done a lot of work to prove that. We openly answered those allegations and the information is available to the public.

"Our main goal is to give supporters confidence that we are stable owners and that we have the passion and money to support the club's long-term vision."

Weeks after this interview, Antonov's bank was placed into administration in Lithuania. He was accused of asset-stripping, arrested and remains on bail pending extradition hearings. Then, CSI - Antonov's company and Pompey's ultimate owner - was placed into administration.

It also emerged that, although CSI had bought the club from Balram Chainrai, the Hong Kong businessman still had security on the ground, and was owed £17m through his company - Portpin - which is registered in the British Virgin Islands.

Anybody wanting to buy the club would have to address Chainrai's debt and deal with another former owner Alexandre Gaydamak - who owns the land around the ground.

Whatever happened to the Leagues new policy on ownesrhip being proper?

No-one wants to see Pompey go out of business but as a City supporterI believe they should be punished severely.
My comment on the penalty is not based on our current position but rather on the right thing to do. If we continue to play the way we are we deserve to go down - end of!

What would be the repercussions IF Pompey are forced out of business, possibly the eradication of all games played being the only fair way to go, meaning only 2 teams would be relegated - I don't know!

Like all football lovers we hope that eventuality never comes to pass. PAY UP POMPEY

The Fit and Proper test is basically just to make sure that prospective purchasers of the club are legally allowed to do so. It isn't the League's job (nor should it be) to check that buyers have the money they say they have. That responsibility rests with the club being bought.
