But if true, this is extremely encouraging (apologies if already posted - I couldn't find anything) http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7988271/
Sky Sports understands Liverpool are close to agreeing a new deal with defender Martin Skrtel. Skrtel's future at Anfield has been the subject of speculation this summer with the Slovakian claiming he was aware of interest from other club's in his services. The 27-year-old, who joined Liverpool in January 2008, enjoyed his best season at Anfield last term, winning the club's Player of the Year award. Skrtel has two years to run on his current contract, but Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to secure his long-term future. Rodgers sees Skrtel as a key member of his future plans on Merseyside and is ready to reward with a new contract.
Hopefully Agger wont be sold and BR will get him to sign an equally long extension... At least that way if City come sniffing again we can ask for £50m
This has been news for the last two days and from what I can make of it, its true. Martin Skrtel has agreed in principle to signing a new 4 year contract.
Good news the best thing BR inherits as a unit is our back 4 and keeper. Yes some more cover is never a problem (and by cover I mean bringing on youth players not just buying in) but if we can keep the defence stable he can focus all efforts on exactly where they need the focus definitely a reason to be cheerful. Well done BR (and credit where its due to the guys who sort the deals) and get in there Skrtel ya beast Just don't play him at right back
I scrolled down to see if I could figure out what the link was about. Can always rely on Luv or Chris to cite a story. #Lazybastard
When you look at our back 4 options, there is no other side in the Premiership that has such depth and quality available to them - Johnson, Kelly, Skrtel, Coates, Agger, Wilson, Robinson, Enrique. The more that we can ensure that we retain that position the better.
i believe right now that sky are way way better than other sites for actual news. especially the bbc who are gutter rag quality. fore deck, i agree with you on some levels that we have 2 players in each position bar left full but would put carra in not wilson in that. I'm not that sure its better than say city if you look at them or even utd. Chelsea have options too, overall i'd be happier if we had more proven young men like kelly not like unproven as coates and robinson are even though their potential is huge. I hope they use this europa campagin early on to blood those two big time.
