SUNDERLAND want to sign Republic of Ireland star Aiden McGeady. The ex-Celtic winger, currently with the Irish squad ahead of their European Championship, is halfway through a four-year deal at Spartak Moscow. But Black Cats chief Martin OâNeill, who handed McGeady his league debut when he was manager of the Glasgow club, wants him at the Stadium of Light. McGeady, 26, became Scotlandâs most expensive *export when he left Celtic for Spartak in a £9.5m deal in *August 2010. But Sunderland already have his Republic team-mates John OâShea, James McClean and Keiren *Westwood on their books. McGeady would jump at the chance to return but the Black Cats have to drive down the £10m valuation.
I wouldn't wanna pay 10 million (unless it's €, but I do think he'd be a smashing signing. We will have a wage issue as well, he'll likely be on daft money in Russia, but I definitely think there's legs in this one.
This has been doing the rounds for a while now. I hope we get him, if Sess is off and we get a couple of strikers in, we have a decent centre mid then Mcgeady and Mclean flying down the wings
Watched him a few times, looks tricky, quick and can have a go at goal Him and McClean switched sides in the Ireland game, so would give us some options Would offer £8mil at most though
I think he cost 9.5 million when he left Celtic. He must have developed as a player and added to his game since then 8 - 10 million for me
Again cost means nothing to me, whatever the club are prepared to pay is what we pay, if they feel its worth paying a little over the top to get him here then fine.
Think this depends on Sessegnon leaving. Sessegnon is better but I think we would potentially be better with an authordox player like Mcgeady. If we had him and McClean on the wings Id like to see seb given a go in the middle next to catts or cutback if we don't bring in another central midfielder
