They are reporting we are after Gameiro and M'Bengue in an 11mil double swoop. Surely the law of averages dictates they get one story right now and then? Please?

I like the sound of Gameiro, however Pardew has stated that Ben Arfa will be playing 'in the hole'. So surely we will need a bigger striker to play up top with him and Gameiro is very small isn't he?

Also I've never seen M'Bengue either, so can't judge him either!

True, he did say HBA would probably be playing off one striker as well. Maybe if Gameiro is only actually costing about 5 million though he wont be a guaranteed starter and a bigger target man will be the one HBA plays off?

Could see it happening. I'll like Gamiero. Nippy, fast, skillful and technically quite good. Good goalscoring record as well. 26 apps(total) 17 goals(total) this season. Although as Tash as said numerous times I could see him struggling with the fast and physical pace of the PL because of his size and height, so he might take some time to adapt to the style of play here, but then again look at Suarez.. sort of similar player(Suarez 5ft 11 though) and he's been awesome for Liverpool. I think he's worth a punt.

M'Bengue.. maybe. All depends on Enrique's situation. If he leaves..yes. If he doesn't.. maybe as cover/competition(doubt he'll want that though). Decent player that I'll like. Young, strong, quick and powerful.

Wouldn't complain, love the sound of Gameiro to be honest.
Though you're right, he wouldn't be suited to being up top on his own. I wouldn't mind going for a little man big man approach or something like a front line of Gervinho Gameiro Ben Arfa leading the attack, but what with Pards stating Ben Arfa playing 'in the hole' we're looking at a big man up front on his todd. This makes me think whether or not we're actually going for Gervinho or not then, what with him being more of a winger than anything else.

Sow would be a good shout.

£11m for the two of them would be pretty good imo, but would this mean no Gervinho? We could buy these two and Sow which would bring us spending around £20m.

We were also linked with Odemwingie in NOTW today, apparently they are going to ask for £8m for him. He's 29 so I cant see it happening.

    But I want Gervinho :(
11m for these two and 12m for Gervinho? 23m, all possible.

Read a report earlier that Pards aims to buy "at least one centre-forward, a right-back, a left-back and a wide midfield player", apparently...

Would be over the moon with Kevin Gameiro, I'm a real admirer of his. I really don't want a target man, it just encourages long balls. Play with wingers and have good tactical striker that can get in good heading positions like Michael Owen and Tim Cahill can/do/did. Gameiro is very good at heading from quality crosses just not from hoofed long balls.

I wouldn't mind Odemwingie. Good finisher, very good pace, good movement/mobility and his pace can be useful when playing away games(can put him out on the wing if needed although not as effective). He's a richer mans' Loverman IMO. I'll have him at around 3-4m. Only issue is his age obviously. I'll have him over any of our strikers though(Apart from Best).

Odemwingie for 4m or so wouldn't be bad, but next season he'd be back up only and he probably wouldn't want that.

IF West Brom go down(which is very unlikely now) I'll offer them Lover + 1m for Odemwingie. Anyways I'll prefer Brunt or Dorrans if we are going to buy someone from West Brom.

*The centre forward and left back could be related to this story
**The wide player could be Gervinho to keep you happy.

Hopefully he is willing to buy players as well as look out for some frees, there are decent european players whose contracts are expiring who I would like to bulk up our squad as long as we splash the Carroll cash too.

I actually quite like him, never realised he was so old though, which is a shame. I'd certainly take him, he's an improvement on most of our current lot and has proven he can score at this level in an average at best team.

Without a target man we lose a lot of our threat from set pieces though. We don't have anyone (save Ben Arfa) who can score regularly from a direct free kick, and since Amy left we haven't had a defender (who we'd rely on for aerial presence without a target man) score a header. I'd like us to sign Gameiro and a taller striker, and then we can mix up our tactics based on the opposition. Sometimes playing with two up front, other times playing a 4-2-3-1, with Gameiro possible on one of the wings/inside forward.

Pardew said: “We’ve had two or three meetings, we’ve contacted some players who are out of contract in the summer. We’re allowed to do that. We’ve contacted a couple of clubs about players who are under contract to see their situation. We’re very much down the road in signing the sort of players we think can add to the club.”

And calming fears that he will buy purely potential this summer, Pardew said that playing at the very highest level on a consistent basis is “crucial” for any players coming in.

“All of the players that we’ve contacted have good experience, it’s more about having 150 games under your belt than a 19-year-old with potential. They need to have played at a very high level for us to be interested in them and to warrant coming here, in my view. There may be one we take a fancy to, but most are established players.”

Ba would be a good option, and he's fast enough to still allow us to play on the ground when he's up front alone.
