I have faith in our gaffer, however he's made it clear that he doesn't like target men very much, but I believe we'll need more of a presence in the box because our strikers were swamped by a Fulham defence that wasn't spectacular. They just dug deep in numbers and that was enough to keep us at bay.... That's kind of scary. Little strikers up front on their own are what defenses are praying for in this league. We will need Mitrovic to make space for others if we want to avoid more nights like last night. Anyone else agree?
Yes, where we need a bigger striker to bully CBs, Mitrovic will be important. Away from home I think that will be more important. Diame will probably be important to us for similar reasons.
We can go into the season on a wing and prayer and hope like f*** that Mitrovic/Perez/Gayle come good, but dress it up any way you want , we need another Striker. A first choice striker, not some one to make up the numbers.
Before a striker we need a left back, a creative central midfielder and a winger (as well as a back up winger)
I don't think similarity comes into it. She are and Ferdinand were similar but probably one of the top 2 front pairings I've seen at Newcastle. Its effectiveness and that's where Perez is failing at the moment. You can have as much talent as you want but you also have to be effective.

Other pairing in top two for me was Cole and Beardsley. I know not similar but both small in stature. It's not the size that counts but the skill and the application of it.
