Speaking after the game, SC said that he expected this kind of lethargic display as City were safe!!!
A couple of points re. this statement.
OK so not a lot to play for, ( how about pride, place, supporters, getting paid to do a job) etc. but we, the supporters still pay to be entertained and are the ones that have to watch it.
There are a number of "younger" payers in the squad who would probably have given 100% given the chance, Burns given less 20 mins, Reid less than 10 mins Bryan not even on the bench, yet we played 5 loan players, why oh why didn't SC start with some of our youngsters? How are we going to keep hold of academy players when they see this going on (5 Pillars??)
It's embarrasing to watch a team that is 12th struggle against one struggling against relegation.
Don't City want people to renew their season tickets? what was served up yesterday as our last home game was dire and probably won't convince a lot of people.

However a big congratulations to those in the Eastend the singing was fabulous and just reminds me of what a mistake the Atyeo stand was, doesn't compare with the acoustics of the Eastend.

City had 2 chances yesterday, the first being to blood some young lads and the second was to show City supporters that they will go out to win every game. As usual they failed on both fronts and did not do due diligence to the beleaguered supporters who have shown up no matter what

Not a good message for potential season ticket hold outs. The comments from SC were out of order.

What did Cotterill expect before Notts Couny then - We were worse.

'The comments from SC were out of order' - No they weren't, typical idiot manager 'speak'.

Bloody hell - how bad was SOD for this idiot to get us to halfway in the league.

Personally I think "This Idiot" is a promising manager who can put us back in the Championship next season.
What more could he have done than what he did ?

Me thinx you are just falling for the hype surrounding him and Flourist.
Personally, I've never put much stock into a person's accent, having met idiots from all corners of the globe and a great variety of accents. It didn't bother me that GJ was a Londoner, that SOD came from the Midlands, or Coppell from the north. I couldn't care less, and I certainly wouldn't regard a man who saved our bacon this year as an idiot because someone in Nottinghamshire didn't like his accent.

Get behind the man and support him.
He may just bring the good times back to us and make sleepy Bristol jump again

I can't believe I'm having to write a post defending someone's accent - please can someone enlighten me as to what difference it makes?

Cotterill took over a team that was 23rd in the league - at that point the majority of the fan base thought we were going down. We have battled our way up to mid table safety with a number of games to go - every other football fan outside of Bristol says what an amazing job Steve Cotterill has done at our club - oh and not one mentions his bl**dy accent!!!

Some people on this board wanted him to play 5 or 6 youngsters on Saturday - the view of some was that trying to win the game was not important (not my view by the way).

I believe that what Cotterill was trying to say was that with safety assured sometimes it can be human nature to slightly lose focus.

As for season ticket sales - anyone not buying a season ticket is taking a gamble - if the improvement continues, and there is a promotion challenge next year, the reduced capacity next season could lead to sell-outs

Am I missing something here? I don't think anyone has critisied his accent?

If they have it's a good job they don't meet me otherwise they would think I'm the village idiot.

I'm only slightly above him <laugh>

I think if we played a team of youngsters against crewe who are playing for there lives and lost there would of been huge uproar among the other teams at the bottom, Secondly the higher up the league we finnish the more money the club gets. If cots believes they're good enough by all means start them but if he does not why should he? just to please a few fans? what if they're really not ready and get twatted? will you moan and blame cots?
I am in the camp that says always start your strongest available 11, pre season/ldv/league cup is for examining the young guns and we got some good ones coming through too

It was in reference to the stigma that was attached to Cotterill by Forest fans, who labelled him 'simple' because of his accent

Not SC cleverest comment really now was it? If he truly felt it would be that way he should have incorporated some youngsters, at least that would have appeased the fans. Managers seem to blindly stick to the notion that you should always play your strongest team, even if it is obvious that the said strongest team are not likely to perform to their optimum, barking mad, if only they listened to us fans their life would be so much easirl:mad:rolleyes:

SC should have engaged Mr Brain before opening Mr Mouth but other than that he was damned if he did and equally damned if he didn't.

Not really, if he had played 4 or 5 kids and we had drawn, or even lost by a goal, I would not have been upset and there would have been no criticism from me, at least it would have shown some backing to the supposed 5 pillars theory.

Agreed. Let's hope that if there are any loanees that he will not be keeping, they are left out of the starting eleven at Crawley and replaced by Academy boys like Batten, Bishop, Reid, Burns and Bryan if he is fit. If SC does that, I'm sure he will get almost universal approval whatever the result.

I wasn't advocating wholesale changes, just the use of those "Squad" players, that have come through the academy, from the start. Rather than them being "bit players" I can see the likes of Bryan being gone come next season, and what does it say to them when loan players get a start before they do, after there had been rumours about them being used.
Just voicing my worries for next season as I will obviously renew my ST.
Still have to congratulate SC for keeping us up, but that is all he has done so far, next season will tell us how far we have actually come.

And can you just imagine how people would have slaughtered SC if he'd done that and we had lost by 3 or more ? As I said, he was damned if he did and equally damned if he didn't.
