How they might line up: QPR Posted on 02 08 2014 We’re kicking off the season this time round by giving you some quick guesses of what the staring line-ups could be. We use a lot of sums to work out exactly how well each player is considered, then make the strongest team we can, within the confines of fitting them to a reasonable formation. Starting with the 3 new-boys and working upwards, it’s the turn of that expensive squad at QPR: Cesar Dunne – Caulker – Ferdinand – Hill O’Neill – Phillips – Hoilett – Barton – Taarabt Remy BENCH: Green(GK), Wright-Phillips, Jenas, Austin, Zamora, Onuoha, Simpson There’s more Premier League experience in that lot than in many teams who’ve been in the top flight a while, and it makes you wonder exactly how they had to come up in the play-offs. It looks like a blue-print for hitting the ground running, though they had a very poor second half of the season last year, and ‘Arry’s charisma might be critical to keeping all of the R’s various personalities under control. The most nailed-on starter at the back is probably Ferdinand senior, but he is NOT a good buy in this game. Lots of potential to lose goals, and perhaps the worst goalscoring ratio of any outfield player left in the league following the retirement of Mr Carragher! The returning Joey Barton and Loic Remy might be the best choices if you did fancy some blue stripes on your squad screen – both capable of taking over a game on their day. Squad rotation is a risk for many of the others given the wealth of talent. Maybe you disagree. Maybe some news or a new signing has happened since I wrote this. By all means share your thoughts in the comments box below … Best of luck, and check back with ChimpSport for our weekly help through the season. More from ChimpSport
Why is SWP taking up bench space? I was going to suggest he run the water but the on field player would probably die of thirst by the time he got it. Even if he threw it to him, he'd miss and hit someone else.
