David Miliband resigns from Sunderland board after Di Canio is hired South Shields MP cites 'past political statements' of manager who once claimed to be a 'fascist' David Miliband last night quit as vice-chairman of Sunderland FC after the Italian Paolo Di Canio, who made Nazi-style salutes on the pitch when a player, was appointed the team's manager. http://www.independent.co.uk/news...er-di-canio-is-hired-8555830.html You have to be careful what you wish for. I hope to God he never comes to Stoke.
I still want him here, if he hasnt been charged or arrested for it then I dont see the problem. Sunderland have got themselves a quality manager.
I don't think Di Canio will do a good job. Premier League players egos won't stand for his style. Managers like Di Canio and Ince do well in the lower leagues because they're heroes to those players who are always going to go the extra step for them, as Di Canio and Ince will inspire them by simply being who they are but Premier League footballers are only inspired by money not by any manager.
The thing that makes me laugh the most about him taking over was no one seemed to give a **** about his political views while he was at swindon but now everyone is up in arms about it.
Er excuse me, I don't think that anybody who OPENLY admits to being a fascist is a particularly good person or a role model. What is your excuse, unless of course... The National Front or BNP anybody.
I wasnt condoning him nick I was only pointing out the fact it appeared fine for him be a fascist as long as he wasnt managing in the prem. Why is that ok ? Its not is it really you cant have one rule for one thing and one for another. My view on de canio is I think he is knows football but,his political views if truely reported stink
HANDS UP lads I said I would like Di caneo here but I've done some research and see the latest comments about his views... What a total tool the guy is. I like passion, pride, getting stuck in but fascist comments. WAY OTT pleased he did'nt come here now. Also heard on S S News that quite a few Sunderland fans ain't to happy either. I think? they we're saying boycott games or something... might have miss heard though as I was watching Chelski v Utd on me other telly.
